The space
The apartment is a spacious one bedroom English basement located just a few blocks away from two metro stations (Shaw/Howard & Mt Vernon Sq. Convention Center), Capital Bikeshare (CaBi), and Metro bus lines, you’ll be hard-pressed to find yourself with little to do.
The space was completely renovated in 2014 and is one of four floors in our home. Though entirely separated from our other three floors; the floor immediately above the apartment is accessed by our family at any time on any given day. This means that audible sounds may exist (walking, talking, and normal sounds within a home with three young children). The family usually rises around 7 AM and retires to the second and third floor around 8 PM. Please be aware of these facts, especially if you tend to sleep-in or are noise sensitive. Ear plugs are available in the bed-side dresser for our guests as well as a white noise machine.
The apartment features:
- Private entrance
- Living room: Sleeper sofa & Queen sized air mattress
- Fully equipped kitchen
- Keurig Coffee maker and complimentary coffee pods
- Coffee maker (drip) hot water kettle, and electronic kettle
- Bedroom: Queen sized bed, alarm clock, & two dressers

Other things to note
Lots of restaurants and cafes are nearby. We highly recommend Compass Coffee on 7th for your morning fix and Eebee's Corner bar (be prepared to wait) the newest got spot in Shaw with incredible dry aged beef burgers, club sandwiches, fried cheese sticks, and other nostalgic bar food.
Cyclists: Want to go for a bike ride while you are here? Get out and see the city like a local, bike around the monuments at night, or get that out of town workout in with a 50 mile training ride! The DC Cycling Concierge (Jeff Miller) will be happy to do any ride and will customize one to meet your expectations and level of ability. Check out his website at DC Cycling Concierge for more information on services and rates.
