The Space:

Welcome to Hardenburgh House, a historic Hudson Valley farmhouse set on 55 sprawling acres in Esopus, NY just minutes from the Hudson River. Built in 1900, the home is a classic example of Northeastern country living. The barns next door and across the street tell the story of the land's agricultural past, and neighbors still bring their horses to graze the pastures on the property. Inside, the home has been fully renovated for modern living, pairing farmhouse character with the comforts you want on a getaway. With 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, and room for up to 8 guests, plus a pull out couch for more, it's made for families and friends gathering in the countryside.



As you step inside, you'll find a spacious, well-equipped kitchen with KitchenAid and GE appliances, an espresso machine, coffee maker, and everything you need to cook for a crowd. It opens to a dining room wrapped in windows, where natural light pours in all day, making it the perfect spot for long breakfasts and family dinners.



The main floor unfolds into a rambling series of comfortable living spaces, so everyone has room to spread out. Curl up with a book in the library, which can be closed off and converted into an extra sleeping space with a comfortable pull-out sofa. The formal living room is welcoming with comfortable couches, a table for gathering or games, a cast-iron wood stove to gather around on chilly evenings and a wet bar for pouring a nightcap. Just beyond, the casual TV lounge closes off with pocket doors, so the kids can settle in for a movie while the adults gather for cards or cocktails.



Upstairs, you'll find all four bedrooms. The spacious primary suite features a king-size bed and a luxurious en-suite bathroom with a deep soaking tub and a separate shower. Two guest rooms each offer a queen-size bed, one with an additional twin, and the children's room has a bunk bed that little ones will love. Three full bathrooms keep mornings easy for the whole group, and the bedrooms are cooled with ceiling fans and window AC units in the warmer months.



Outside, the deck hugs the entire back of the house, with French doors from the living room and a screen door off the dining room that make indoor and outdoor living feel seamless. Fire up the propane or charcoal grill, then lounge on the deck looking out over the expansive lawn and pond. When the sun goes down, wander down to the fire pit and keep the good times going long into the night under the stars.



Additional amenities include high-speed Wi-Fi, a smart TV with YouTube TV, a washer and dryer, a Pack 'n Play for the youngest guests, keypad entry, and driveway parking for up to 4 vehicles.

The Neighborhood:

Hardenburgh House sits in a quiet corner of the Town of Esopus, surrounded by working farmland and just minutes from the west bank of the Hudson River. Walk to the water at Esopus Meadows Preserve, home to a historic lighthouse, or hike the trails and waterfalls of Black Creek Preserve. Rosendale, 10 minutes away, offers the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail and its dramatic trestle, the Widow Jane Mine, and a beloved indie movie theater. Kingston, 15 minutes north, is known for the cobblestone streets and hip restaurants, galleries and music venues. Visit Chleo, Brunette Wine Bar, or Eliza for dining and cocktails. New Paltz, 20 minutes south, is the entrance to Mohonk Preserve and Minnewaska State Park, with world-class hiking and climbing in the Shawangunk Ridge, plus orchards, farm stands, and wineries along the way. In winter, Belleayre and Hunter Mountain are about an hour's drive, making this a rewarding escape in every season.



Getting Around:

Hardenburgh House is about 2 hours from New York City and guests should plan to travel around by car as it is a rural area with limited public transportation. The main routes to access the town are the New York State Thruway (I-87) to NY-32 N and NY-213 E.



In the winter, we recommend a car with four-wheel drive that can handle the snow and gravel roads.



Other Things to Note:

The Central AC does not work. Three of the bedrooms have window units and there are ceiling fans throughout.

No swimming in the pond. No driving on the grass/lawn.

Do not feed or pet the horses that graze across the street.

Guests do not have access to the barns.

The water pressure drops when the washing machine runs or when the hose is on. Avoid showering when either of these activities are happening.
