The Iron Horse Hotel

Location and style! The heater did not work. Three lights were out. The valet parking was absolutely wrong. We parked our car four of the five nights because no one was there. At $44/night, it was way wrong.

The price and service for valet was way high.

I liked the location...close to the Harley-Davidson Museum (my primary destination) and the Milwaukee Art Museum. I liked the free sheltered motorcycle parking; this greatly influenced my choice of hotels (You should advertise this feature more). I really enjoyed the motorcycle ambiance, and the art throughout the hotel. I liked the reading room a lot and used it somewhat. I appreciated having an in-hotel restaurant and used it during my stay. The staff there were very good as well. Most importantly, the bed was very comfortable.

I did not like that breakfast was not included.

Like the character, seemed vintage, and the artwork. The room was comfortable, spacious and quiet. We found free parking on a side street. We walked down to the fest grounds for the event we were attending.

I love the location, the decor, and the closeness to the HD Museum, which is the primary reason for my return to the property. This time I rode my motorcycle all the way from Southern Maryland.

I reserved and paid for the room through Booking.com, and the clerk at the desk asked for my credit card at check-in for incidentals. After checking out the next day and almost back home, I learned that the hotel charged me for the same night's stay on top of booking.com. I called and spoke to someone at the front desk who kept me on hold for 13 minutes while resolving the charge. She came back on the line and said it was reversed. The very next day, it was charged on my card again. I had to file a claim dispute with the CC company, and it's still being investigated. *UPDATE* Management took ownership of the problem, apologized, and resolved it professionally. While the mistake was frustrating, I appreciate the way it was ultimately handled."
