A Tanners Home Inn Bed and Breakfast

The owners are really welcoming and gave us a lot of recommandations about the area. Homemade Breakfast was amazing!

This property is an historic old heritage building, with decor to match. It is located just a short block from the Loyalist burial ground, which is next to the central ing’s Park and from there just a few min walk down to the waterfront. My room did not have an ensuite as the heritage association would not allow renovations to include water being run to that portion of the house. But house coats hung in the closet and I was given exclusive rights to a huge bathroom just a few steps down the hall. It had a fabulous shower (3 heads) plus a large jaccuzzi tub. It was no trouble to walk down the hall in the night to use the room. Breakfast was prepped and ready at the requested time, lovingly prpared by the gracious host, beautifully presented, and delicious.

At first I thought the area might not be the greatest, as the houses on that street were older and perhaps a bit run down. Since there was no guest parking lot I had to park on the street and was at first concerned about leaving it there, but it was fine. First impression of St. John was that it was a bit rough, but after a second day of exploring I found it to be quite interesting. And despite being in the heart of the old city there were no sirens at night, and no ‘rowdies’ making noise. For an urban setting it was surprisingly quiet.

Loved the historic building, owners were so friendly and personable. Great breakfast. A great experience
