Castle at Waikīkī Grand

I liked the location right across the street from Waikiki Beach, the Zoo and not far from the Aquarium and lots of places to eat nearby. The room was nice, very clean and comfortable. Kitchenette included full size refrigerator, filtered water for coffee, microwave, hot plate, pots, pans, dishes. The contactless check-in and check-out is great, wish more hotels offered that. The staff are very helpful and always an email or text message away during office hours.

The hotel was under major construction during our stay minor noise inconvenience on the first day, good to see the hotel is getting updated though. We requested a King size bed while booking but later learned the entire hotel has only Queen beds, however the bed was very comfortable. The shower curtain was too short, the floor was soaked after every shower. The pool is nothing to be excited about, go to Waikiki beach and enjoy the ocean. The hotel parking is in the basement and the height clearance is 6 ft and compact stalls only. If you have a large vehicle you will not fit!

Great location and value. We had a volcano and sea view which was delightful.

We called to ask about early check in but wasn’t convinced we were understood. The place is a bit dated but it served our needs perfectly.

Room 514. We had a nice view of the ocean from the balcony. The beach and main "strip" (boardwalk) were just a few steps away. The shower was nice, and the bed was very comfortable. Located 2 doors down from stairs and elevator so very convenient. The room was pretty quiet even though there is a bar in the building. We loved having our breakfast out on the balcony. We were within walking distance of 3 bus stops which gave us access to all of Honolulu. The bar in the building was nice and staff very friendly with good food. The first two pix are the room and view from balcony. Second two are Waikiki from main strip just a 5-minute walk.

The balcony is in the full sun all afternoon, so it gets very hot to sit out there. The kitchen is fine but only one juice glass, one 12 oz. glass and the pots are so thin that they bow out when hot and barely touch the burner. The room looks nothing like the picture on the site, in fact it's very dingy looking from the paint color chosen for the ceiling and walls. I would have expected something that says "Hawaii", but this says old motel. The only seat is a twin size fold out bed but it's under the wall-mounted TV so not very user friendly. The bus system is extremely confusing and we hated it. There is some road noise but enough to keep you awake.

When I forgot my door code, with my phone in the room, the hotel staff was rude and treated me like a criminal till we got the code.
