Very helpful and friendly staff; they let me check out late without any hassle. Location is convenient -- bus stop quite nearby, the lake side trails is very close too. There are supermarkets nearby. If you are visiting UChicago or nearby, this is not a bad option.
The room had a ventilation problem -- the AC was working fine but the room smelled damp and musty with some air freshener trying to hide the smell. The building is quite old. The staff surely try to keep it clean but one day I found a small centipede in the bathtub. There is a microwave in the room but no plate or cutlery -- not even a cup.

The location was excellent, a short walk to Hyde Park train station.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, they gave us a nice list of local eateries and extra coffees.
The shower was good.
The toilet was a little small/low down

The hotel is one of the few near the Obama Presidential Center, and staying in Hyde Park was fun. Our room was basic but spotless, and you could see Lake Michigan from our window. We drove, and the parking lot was secure and also free, a rarity in Chicago. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Water pressure in the shower is subpar, but that was 2 minutes of an otherwise great stay.
