Great value for money old school motel. I arrived cold and wet and the staff were great and very helpful. Made for an enjoyable stop over.

The proprietors have done lots of updates. For an older "classic" motel it is in generally very good shape! Local coffee for the in-room machine is a nice touch (note: no breakfast option or even staffed office in the morning).
It is very close to a busy arterial 4-lane road, and my particular room didn't have a thru the wall a/c on the back side like nearly every other room. Rather it had a "hose" style machine that meant the highway-facing window was not well sealed at all. Cold drafts all night (no need for a/c!) but especially a lot of truck and motorcycle noise till past 11 and again starting 6 am.

We did not stay for the breakfast, so I cant comment there. However our entire stay was exceptional. We were greeted by Martha and Barney, two of the sweetest labs you'll ever meet. There are free zoo passes with each stay as well! The location is right by the Duluth Zoo, trails, and has a grill and fire pits out back. The staff was very accommodating. The rooms were the cleanest I have ever seen any room. It felt more like a rustic Air BNB. I would absolutely stay again.

No complimentary breakfast, no ice machine, no vending machines. Could not use the outdoor deck area. Got stung by a wasp from the paper wasp nest on the door head. Manager said that he would remove but didn't.
