Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Beds were firm and comfortable, rooms very clean. Ample parking, in a good location walking distance to lots of food and a ten minute drive to Monte Rio by the Russian River.

The only thing we didn’t like was that the rooms felt a bit pricey for just a single night.

The lodge is beautifully elevated, with a lovely view of the church. Even though it’s right on the main street as you enter Occidental, it feels peaceful and removed from the busyness of town. Sitting on the balcony and taking in the view makes it feel like a true getaway—a little vacation right in the middle of town. It was the perfect base for our trip, with Bodega Bay, Guerneville, Jenner, and Freestone all within less than 30 minutes. We could spend the day exploring and easily come back to the peaceful little town of Occidental at the end of the day. I loved the slow, peaceful feel of Occidental. The short, walkable strip along the main street was so charming, with Howard’s Cafe right across the way. It was nice to just walk around, take in the quiet little town, and slow down for a bit. It honestly made me think, “Why do I even live such a busy, crazy life in the city?” 😆 I’d definitely recommend Occidental Lodge if you’re looking for a quiet, cozy place to stay while exploring the area. It has that old-school small-town charm that makes you feel like you’ve actually gotten away for a bit. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back!

Nothing really! We were out exploring most of the day, so we mainly used the lodge as a place to sleep. We knew what to expect going in, and it was exactly what we were looking for. The front desk was friendly and chatty, and they even gave us some great recommendations for dinner.
