Spark by Hilton Clarion

We had to check out at 5am. Breakfast was not available. Coffee was brewed. Did get coffee.

Booking.com charged my card for 2 rooms. I got there only one room would go thru. Was told that the virtual credit card booking.com created denined using it for the second room. Therefore I paid for 3 rooms because I had to present a credit card to pay for 2nd room

We always like the cleanliness of spark hotels.

The staff wasn't as attentive to it's guests as we are accustomed to at other spark hotels. The staff didn't replenish or be trained correctly to know where certain oods were which needed to be restocked. There were several times when there was no one at the front desk when we needed to ask for things to be restocked or for extra towels.

Clean and bright room. Everything worked well. Nice breakfast.

There was missing sound insulation at the bottom of the pas door to the next room so our neighbor's noise was rather loud.

The price was fair

I booked the hotel based on the price and the Hilton name. When I booked the room, I didn’t realize that Spark was Hilton’s “economy” hotel. So when we walked into the hotel, we were initially shocked by the appearance and smell of the hotel. After a little more research…after checking in…I realized that this is Hilton’s “budget friendly” option. After realizing that, I was not as disappointed….my fault for not knowing what I booked. However, the TV audio didn’t work. We spent an hour trying to find out why the audio didn’t work. The volume would be fine for 5 minutes then completely turn off, then intermittently turn on and off. We didn’t have any Bluetooth electronics in the room, so it wasn’t connecting to any of our earbuds, speakers or headphones. The entire hotel had an unpleasant musty odor. The bathroom was clean but had an unclean look and feel to it. There were large portions of missing shower grout, the baseboard was coming off the wall is places. It had the impression that nobody had stayed in this room for a while and it definitely needed to be “freshened up”. But for a one night stay, we could suck it up and get through it. If you book this hotel knowing what to expect it’s a good budget friendly option. But if you’re looking for something with some higher standards, I’d definitely look elsewhere.
