Rockside Cabanas Hotel

It was perfectly placed right on the beach with Amazing surf. The staff were incredibly helpful, especially the manager who made recommendations but wasn’t the slightest bit pushy as in some hotels. The hotel is right on the road but our room (B1) was quiet even when the train passed. The room was spacious, clean and cool with a great balcony view. The Sri Lankan breakfast of roti, Dahl and coconut sambal was the best we had in our whole trip.

The only problem was we didn’t have time to stay longer

We enjoyed the breakfast very much, it was the correct portion and it was very flavorful.

Slight lack of salt. And the sugar packets were all clumped up.

Room and wash room , service, facility

A lot of monitor lizard around the property, that’s so scary. As well as need to make the stair from the middle side of the hotel not front of the hotel , because it’s just beside the road . Need more security

Beach front and gardens are nice and well kept, close to turtle beach so you can get there before the crowds - many of the staff were very helpful and kind.

I had no hot water for my stay, the duty manager lied about fixing it and offered no compensation, other than one ‘free breakfast’, and was generally very unhelpful. I was bullied into paying on arrival (as opposed at the end of my stay and I feel it’s because the manager knew I would complain about the water, but wouldn’t provide a refund. The ground staff woke me up at 7am every day, sweeping and knocking around the cabana. The food and drinks are nice but VERY over priced. The cabana’s are nice, but there are no curtains on the (albeit very small) windows. The noise from the road can be is very loud - although the sea is usually louder. I was very disappointed with my very expensive stay and wouldn’t recommend this place - there are other hotels which offer better value.
