Very good hotel in a great location

- The first and most predominant positive point, in our view, was the kindness of the lady at reception. She seemed to have a good heart and tried to accomodate us. There were sadly things she could do nothing about, on the spot. - The location is ideal if you want to be in the center of Valberg, it's totally convenient and right where all the shops, restos and bakery are. In front of the ski slopes. - The kitchenette had everyrhing you need to cook and wash dishes etc with a dishwasher, soap and tabs, which was great. - The bathroom was clean, if you don't look at details (bathroom furniture old and cracked and black on the bottom side). But that is a detail, the actal sink and bathtub were clean. - The Non-Smoking policy is great !!! The biggest highlight for me personally as an asthmatic. It's wonderful that smoking is prohibited everywhere in the hotel.

Unfortunately, the flat was not very comfortable. It was way too small (yet there were only 4 of us) and would not be able to comfortably accomodate 5-6 people as advertised. - The beds were not comfortable : The flip-out sofa is very, very old and struggles to flip open (one fears breaking it when trying, it's very flimsy) and the mattress inside had a groove in it which made it impossible for an adult to lie on it comfortably (especially if you have issues with your neck/back, which is our case). The upstairs beds were also too firm but with a decent topper that would not be an issue. - The real issue upstairs was the heat... There is no A/C in the flat, and the place heated to about 26/27 degrees upstairs and 25 degrees downstairs. The lady at reception provided us with a ventilator, but only one (so the person sleeping downstairs had none), and it displayed the ambient temperature. That's why I can accurately say how hot it actually was in the flat. Even though the evenings brought fresher air, the combination of uncomfortable beds and heat made it challenging to enjoy the stay. - The absence of soundproofing : You could hear everything that was going on around you. Our neighbours had a child and it kept thumping around and screaming. The people next door also coughed loudly and we could hear everyrhing they did. The noise in the corridor was just as though people were in the room with us (and they seemed to have no consideration for the fact that this was a hotel and not their own isolated property....). It felt very loud and promiscuous generally. - The terrace could have been nice had it not been for the unfortunate timing for us : vegetation workers were using tractors and powertools just in front of our apartment on the slopes, both mornings, which meant noise and petrol fumes so we could not have breakfast outside. Also, the road downstairs only quietened down after 9pm, so too late to enjoy the terrace.
