Hôtel Best Western The Wish Versailles

The staff were so helpful you’d think they personally owned the hotel. They were lovely, both Dominic in the evening of our stay and Maite the following morning. Breakfast was really good, and above expectations. It included freshly prepared fruits, creamy scrambled eggs or cook your own options, sausages, smoked salmon and cold meats, and cereals, croissants, yoghurts extra nuts and dried fruit plus pancakes and homemade cake …

The Location and some of the staff, the evening meal we had on the first night was exceptional. The room was okay, and teh bed was comfortable.

We had returned back from Versailles to find that the Restaurant was not open on a Friday evening, this meant we had to go and find somewhere else to eat. Also the AC for the room was controlled from reception not with the remote in the room, this made it difficult to set and cool or heat the room as needed. On the day of departure the Man on reception was rude and unhelpful.

The restaurant was closed on Friday and Saturday, a bit inconvenient, we had to drive out and find somewhere.

We escaped to this hotel during a major heatwave, and the air conditioning worked well. The hotel has a pool (albeit not very clean as it was full of people/children) and the room was comfortable. The area surrounding the hotel is calm and cute.

While the first staff welcoming us were very friendly, we clearly noticed a huge negative gap between the week staff and the weekend staff. They were all ruled with illogical dogmas that forbid them to think for themselves over the tiniest ridiculous things. For example, insisting on not giving us a second fork or spoon for breakfast, and making us believe we were crazy for asking so, or not letting us stay in the lobby area / pool after our checkout although it was empty. Their attitude was always very defensive, rude, impolite and especially illogical. Also, the breakfast was not at all worth its price, and if you come over the last hour of breakfast after 9:30 there is almost nothing left.
