Breakfast was good - although the breakfast room was crowded, as there were what appeared to be groups all using at the same time. Breakfast on the first morning was significantly better than on the second.

The informal restaurant was very quiet and we thought that it was closed - it could have been promoted a bit better. There were a couple of restaurants within easy walking which were atmospheric and the concierge was helpful in directing us - so a star there!

Exceptionel

I love this hotel. They have managed a perfect balance of old world elegance with a hint of modernity, without the usual snobbishness that accompanies a well established institution such as theirs. We had room 211 which had a gorgeous view of the sea (out the first balcony especially), was quiet l, cool and calm. The pool and spa are small but perfectly formed, and the connection to the courtyard garden from the pool was a nice touch. The bathrooms have Guerlain toiletries which smell absolutely lovely. The hotel were also attentive to our request for two duvets and arranged this with no issues, and took great care of our car when taking it away for overnight parking.

It was a little disappointing that our room was not ready at the proscribed checkin time of 3pm; and we needed to wait on the terrace while it was made ready. This is understandable, given it was mid August and one of the busiest days of the year, but i would have expected to be offered a drink on the house for even a minor delay in such a quality hotel, and this was not offered.
