Relais San Vigilio al Castello

Well designed and tucked away on top of the old city. Stunning views and part of the castle makes it feel really special. Close to a couple of sweet restaurants. The young woman that checked us in was amazing and the owners should do anything they can to keep her happy. So hard to find these days. The way breakfast was set up as a preorder the night before and then the quality was great. I had a toasted bagel with avocado and a soft boiled egg. Wonderful coffee too.

We have a sports car so navigating the way up the hill was a bit nerve racking but we were assured we’d make it and we did. The private garage was large, secure and had an up which made it easy.

Location on the hill, easy access by cable car, beautiful settings in natural surroundings. Parking on the side.

Great location with beautiful views. Staff is very helpful. Excellent breakfast, the best we had on our vacation.

Bathrooms on lower rooms had a strong mold odor.

We visited the hotel during a road trip and my only complaint is that we weren't there long enough! A beautiful, peaceful spot, with spectacular views over the Citta Alta and across the whole region. The hotel was immaculate, the staff were incredibly helpful, the on-site parking was perfect (though possibly tight to access for those with bigger cars) and the location was unbelievable. The Superior Double room was well appointed and spacious, with a quiet shared terrace outside, but we spent out evening by the castle tower which had stunning views. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful with a wide choice of options and great coffee, all served on the balcony. The hotel is nestled into the castle and steps lead right from the entrance to the top where there are four lookouts with views in every direction. The top of the funicular is a two minute walk from the hotel, which takes you down into the old walled town, with bars and restaurants, making this a perfect location from which to explore Bergamo. It's also a short hop to the lakes, with Garda little more than an hour away. We will definitely be returning, and hopefully for a longer stay!
