Hotel Alphorn

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Alphorn in Interlaken West for 5 nights at the end of June, and honestly, this was one of those stays that becomes a beautiful memory rather than simply a hotel experience. The first thing I must mention is Ms. Christine, the owner. From the moment we arrived, she made us feel incredibly welcome and comfortable. She takes personal care of her guests in a way that is becoming increasingly rare. From a cheerful “Good morning” at the breakfast table to her smiling presence throughout the day, Christine was always there whenever we needed anything. If we had even a small issue, she personally made sure it was taken care of. The location is simply excellent. Hotel Alphorn is in Interlaken West, away from the hustle and bustle of Interlaken East, making it a wonderfully peaceful place to stay. At the same time, it is just a short walk from Interlaken West railway station and the bus station. There is also a Migros just a stone’s throw away, which is extremely convenient for daily necessities. Our room was cozy, charming and beautifully decorated. The soothing combination of mostly white and blue colours gave it a very pleasant and relaxing feel. We happened to experience warm weather during our stay, and Christine thoughtfully provided us with a fan, which made the room very comfortable. There are a few house rules, including not bringing foods such as noodles into the room because of possible smells or stains. Personally, I found this completely reasonable. After all, it is a small family-run property, and such rules help maintain the cleanliness and character of the place. Before our trip, I had read a few reviews suggesting that Christine treated Asian guests differently from European or American guests. Being Indian, I was naturally curious about this. But our experience could not have been more different. Throughout our five-night stay, we never once felt that we were being treated differently because of where we came from.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a light continental style but met our needs. Location was an easy walk from the train station.

Quite expensive, but I think that goes with the territory in Interlaken.

Quaint and a great location! We got the only room with its own bathroom so that was excellent!

No TV in room

Breakfast is provided, has the essentials you need. Staff were friendly.

No air conditioning so needed to open the window which resulted in noise from the street when cars go by. There is also a rule to not bring food into rooms to eat so you’re essentially forced to eat out.
