This is the second year of staying in this house for our Gateway MS150 bike ride. My mom and friends love this house. It's wonderfully furnished and very cozy with amazing views of the river off the upper balcony and lovely outdoor area for an evening cocktail. Also an easy walk to downtown Alton! Will be back again next year!

Excellent host / property manager, very helpful, accommodating and easy to work with. Property was absolutely fantastic well work the cost. Will try to stay there again in the future. If you're in the area this is one to look at.

We enjoyed our stay. It was on a quiet street with a view of the Mississippi from the wrap around balcony. The house was clean, bed was comfortable and had good water pressure in shower. Host was right next door if we needed anything. Check in and check out was a breeze. Only thing that would have made it better was softer pillows and better internet speed and signal for streaming.

This is a 1900 stone house that is along a brick street near Riverfront Park in Alton, up on the bluffs overlooking the river. The house has a kitchen, a large main living room, bedrooms upstairs, plenty of room for our family of 3. Lots of nice touches, everything was quite comfortable and well-maintained.

Perfect location for Alton and Grafton activities.

The house is beautiful and very clean. They provide all the amenities you could wish for. The view from the upstairs balcony is stunning. The backyard is has a grill and table and chairs to enjoy your night with family and friends or your morning coffee. My only suggestion to the owner would be if they could please add mini blinds in the living room. I slept on the sofa bed and felt a bit nervous that I could be seen at night. You will truly enjoy your stay you will not be disappointed .

This property was perfect for our mom group getaway. The view from the balcony was stunning and the host was very friendly. The house is beautiful and in a beautiful location. We were able to get out and enjoy the nice weather and have a nice lunch downtown and visit the local shops. The owner provided many amenities and the makeup wipes in the bathroom were an added bonus. The only thing I would change in the listing is that it is a full bath upstairs and only a half bath on the main floor, I was expecting 2 full baths (maybe it was in another review and I overlooked it?). Other than that property was exactly as listed and we already talked about booking again.

This is a wonderful property for a several day stay! The home is just as comfortable and well-appointed as our home, with an amazing view of the Mississippi River. It is located in a nice historic neighborhood of Alton, sequestered at the end of two long residential stretches. It's not an easy walk to downtown Alton, because of numerous steep hills, but it's not far! There are a few nice shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars nearby, and you're close to Grafton, Illinois, which is a nice natural area with a bustling seasonal entertainment district. We were in the area before the season gets hopping, so there wasn't a ton of crowding, but not many entertainment options, either. This location is fairly convenient to St. Louis, and an easy drive. The house itself is 2 main floors. A roomy front room (TV), half bath, and spacious kitchen are on the first floor. A nice seating area (TV) and two spacious bedrooms are on the second floor. It's light and airy, with windows everywhere! There's a 2nd floor wrap-around balcony, as well as lots of outdoor space in the back yard. The owner lives next door, and is a gracious host. He will clearly work to be as attentive or invisible as you need! He was only in contact when contacted first, and very friendly. This is the best VRBO property we've stayed in, and recommended 100% for our type of visit (several days, lots of time in the city).

This Alton home with a Mississippi River view was very clean and comfortable. Loved sitting on the upstairs deck watching the barges go down the river. The neighborhood is charming and peaceful. We would definitely come back again.

The house was close to my sons so it was perfect for us. The view from the bedroom and balcony of the river was beautiful. Would definitely book this rental again and again.

My husband and I took a few days for a close-to-home getaway. The house was beautiful and quite comfortable. It had everything we needed, the views were gorgeous, and the Christmas decorations added to the cozy atmosphere. We enjoyed our time in the house as much as we did our time hiking at Pere Marquette, sipping wine at the Grafton Winery, shopping and dining in downtown Alton. We would recommend this house to anyone looking for a comfortable place in the area. We will book it again if we come back to the area!

Great property! The home was very clean, the kitchen had everything one could need, the beds were very comfortable, and the neighborhood was quiet .

Lovely place and super clean, lots of amenities, fantastic views of the river. Beautiful area and short walk to Riverview park. Will definitely come back. Larry was a great host and always available.

We enjoyed our stay so much. It was the perfect place to gather together with a small group of extended family. The home is cozy and comfortable, with everything you need to prepare and serve meals, and a nice table to gather around. We especially enjoyed one evening sitting on the deck, with a view of the river, watching the sun go down. We hope to return again.

We booked this for a girls weekend trip and it was absolutely fantastic! We had looked at staying in a hotel for our trip and then I found this listing and seen how cute and charming it was so I knew I had to book this instead! It is well priced and has such a beautiful view of the lake! It is a very quite neighborhood ! I will definitely be renting this again!

Enjoyed ourselves so much with the beautiful weather and having our morning coffee on the balcony. Love to walk the surrounding neighborhood to view the Halloween decoration and climb stairs to the Bluff to view the river. Need to start planning our return trip next year!! Thanks so much!

This is an amazing property, the location and views of the Mississippi are incredible. The hosts are attentive and provided for everything we could ask for and checked in several times. We will definitely stay here again.

Renting this property was a very positive experience. The owner was quick to respond to the few questions we had before our trip. We had a wonderful time at this beautiful VRBO. The second floor balcony was perfect in the morning… drinking a cup of coffee and watching the mighty Mississippi. The John Olin Nature Preserve is minutes away and we enjoyed the trails. On Wednesday, we drove up to Pere Marquette and had another great hiking day. After our hikes we enjoyed a late lunch at the Old Bakery Beer Company and then headed back to the beautiful VRBO for a relaxing evening. Awesome location and quiet neighborhood!
