10/10 for location and a true oceanfront rental. House is dated but clean and mostly comfortable. New couches in the living room. The fireplace is still broken “waiting on parts”. The beds are just as awful as some suggested. Rock hard and small. Linens were nice and clean. There is an interesting and massive collection of art covering the walls that I felt took away from the feel of a coastal vacation home. My thoughts were with all that was spent on artwork, comfortable beds would have been a better investment. You could charge more nightly with better beds and quickly recoup your money.

Live entertainment from the comfort of the living room watching the winter tides crash and flow in and out of the tidepools while seagulls drop mussels from their flight onto the rocks to crack them open to eat.

Any closer to the waves, we’d be floating. Beautiful comfort inside Sea Rock. Clean. Comfortable. Spacious. We will be back without a doubt.

The good the bad and the ugly of Sea Rock Retreat The good. The location of this home is spectacular, especially for storm watching, the location alone rates a 10. The home itself is large and well laid out with an upstairs sitting room, bedroom and bathroom that is seperate from the downstairs and very private, It's the perfect setup for 2 couples, a family, or friends who want to hang out together, but also have some space apart. The bad. While the overall cleanliness of the home was good, the kitchen is one level above gross. The cabinet fronts need a long overdue scrubbing, some of them are so bad they were sticky to the touch. The refrigerator has tape residue all over the front of it and also some spots of residue inside. The freezer has frozen food that looks like it has been there for years on the bottom shelf that is blocked with duct tape. Why???? The kitchen sink faucet is broken and caked with grunge, it works, but come on, this is an easy fix. The downstairs mattress is firm and unless you like sleeping on concrete bring a mattress pad to put on the bed, you will be glad you did. The upstairs shower/bathtub is slow to drain and fills with water as you are taking a shower, another easy fix. The fireplace is a mystery. We could not get it to work, we called Vacasa and they sent over the maintenance person who was able to get it working, unfortunately he could not tell us how he managed to do that. The fireplace worked for a couple of hours, went out and we could never get it working again. Luckily the house has a good furnace so it wasn't a huge issue, but a fire would have been nice. The ugly The downstairs furniture looks like it was dragged in from the dump. It's incredibly worn, dirty, and broken, The loveseat has a huge hole in the back and is falling apart. Neither the loveseat or the sofa are usable, which really put a damper on our vacation. We were there for a week and ended up getting lawn chairs so we had somewhere to sit downstairs. There is one lamp downstairs, it's ceramic and is broken, not just a crack, but has a big chunk taken out of it leaving the edges exposed and sharp. I have never been to a place where the lamp was a hazard, but this one is, especially of you have kids who could cut themselves on the lamp. My message to the owners of this home. I understand why you don't want to invest a lot of money into the furnishings, I get it, but for the sake of future guests go to the goodwill and get a new lamp and sofa set and consider upgrading the downstairs bedroom mattress. If you are looking for a luxury home, look elsewhere, this is not the home for you. If you are looking for a spot in a spectacular location to share with friends or family for storm watching or just to hang out and watch the waves, it's a good house for that but bring your own lounge chairs!

We really liked the location of this home, but were disappointed that nothing seems to have been done to improve the quality of the beds as noted in previous reviews. Also, the gas stove in the living room does not work.

Location can’t be beat, but house wasn’t in good enough shape at that price to go back. Living room couches had holes in them, the beds and bedding weren’t comfortable, the upstairs bath didn’t drain, the windows upstairs on the ocean side wouldn’t open, paint was peeling on the outside bench and railing, and there was construction on a new house next door. Nothing was terrible, but we were disappointed paying that much for the condition of the house.

Great value to meet and work! Better than a hotel room to meet and work in. Comfortable and clean.

The one requirement I had was a fireplace. They said there was a gas fireplace. It didn't work. When I called the company they said they would send maintenance over right away or they would call me. Neither happened. I called again. Same promise. Nothing. According to the guest book the fireplace has been out for months. This was so disappointing as there was special meaning in having a fireplace for that gathering. The fact that no one ever responded to me, makes me think twice about renting from here again.

The rocks and tidal pools are right there, outside all of the windows and a few steps from the back deck! Incredible just watching the waves crash on the rocks. I have tinnitus and use a white-noise maker to help me sleep, but didn't need it here -- the ocean's so close it provided plenty of soothing noise with an open window.

The views from this home are seriously unparalleled. You can only get closer to the ocean in a boat. When we walked into this home on dark and windy night, this house had the view to go with the wind and rain. Absolutely beautiful. The layout of the house is quite nice. We were two couples and there is a bed/bath upstairs with sitting area and a bed/bath downstairs with the main living and kitchen. Quite a nice set up really. We knew the beds were Queen going in, so that was our bad, but this house could be LUXURIOUS if the beds were upgraded to kings (yes...both rooms!) and the mattresses were decent. These might have been okay 20 years ago, but ours had a piece of wood between mattress and box springs to hold it up, we assume, but the result is aching hips and back. The pillows are flaaaaaaatttt. FLAT. Luckily, I brought a small pillow to use in the car and I slept on that all weekend. The sleeping arrangements need serious upgrades. Painful and not a good nights rest either night. Came home exhausted. :-( The notes from the owners all over the house (don't do this. Don't do this either! For sure don't do this!) are disconcerting and not welcoming at all. Felt like we were invading and that they wanted us out! The house is nice enough but needs serious updating and some repairs. There was food in the fridge and freezer, hastily covered with garbage bags with torn duct tape, labeled, we think "Owners!" Kinda icky. There are padlocks on 2/3 of all cupboards and drawers. Again, really unwelcoming. Put the owners stuff in the garage in a locked cabinet or fridge/freezer if you don't want people seeing it. The tvs are very outdated, but I suppose you shouldn't watch tv at a place this close to the ocean. Maybe the worst part was that we were kicked out at 10am. I have never stayed anywhere that we had to be out by 10am. 11...okay. 12...sure. 10am is just greedy. I get that they have to work around housekeepers, but kicking out the paying clients at 10am is ridiculous. I want to emphasize, the location is beyond reproach. The view and proximity to ocean is not to be missed. But we spent over $800 for two nights for aching joints and to have to leave at 10am after a hasty cup of coffee on the day of departure. Glad we stayed, but we'll find a house that actually wants us there next time.

However, I booked this place because it advertised tidepools in the back yard. This was false advertising. No tidepools. Only treacherous rocks. To get close enough to the life zone on the rocks required risking life and limb to get to the surf. The waves are way too strong for any tidepooling. You should not advertise it this way.

This is due to a home being built, it will most likely happen for the next several months so be aware. Love the location and tide pool adventuring was spot on.

You cannot beat the location of this house. Located just a few miles from downtown Yachats and a few miles from Perpetua State Park, it provides easy access to both. But the best part is that it is located directly on the beach and has breathtaking views of the ocean. Watching the waves crash on the rocks is mesmerizing! The home is very spacious and very clean. There are great views from every room. The only negative is that the living room furniture is worn, but still very comfortable. There is a trail down to the rocky shore on the very right side of the property. I would happily book this house again and hope to return someday. Just a warning, the lock on the front door is a little stubborn. You have to lift up and pull the door to you to unlock.
