View is all they have. Place is poorly furnished and the owners provide no amenities. Dishes to wash tough. Don't give you a sponge. Need to write a note. Tough paper can't be found.

Facing Assategue, plenty of things to do, the property manager was friendly and knowledgeable and kept me in the loop with everything before during and after my stay.

Basia and John were great hosts as was Maria. It truly was a slice of paradise. Very convenient and uncluttered. The hosts were eager to help when needed and very pleasant.

Great accommodations. The cottage was super clean and comfortable. Great access to kayaks and boat tour.

We came across snug harbor without any prior knowledge of the area and could not be happier that we chose to stay here for a week. Whether you’re traveling with family, as a couple, looking for R&R, or doing some sport fishing this is the place to stay. The cottages are literally on the water and they are spacious and very well taken care of. The wild horses can be seen and heard from only a couple hundred yards away. Captain John is more than happy to show you around or bring you to awesome secluded beaches. There’s a thousand kayaks and paddle boards for fun. At night there are romantic fire pits that make you feel totally disconnected from the world but you’re only a few steps from your cottage. And the ocean breeze keeps all of the bugs away. If you’re at all into nature, or world-class beaches, then go visit Basia and Captain John. They will make your stay amazing!

My friends and I had a great time in our cozy cottage across from the light house. We easily made a reservation for an eco-tour as well and the three of us had a great time soaking in the sun while kayaking around Chincoteague and learning about oysters, mussels, birds, and the wild ponies of the area. There were plenty of stars at night and reason to sit under them while the harbor breeze pushed away some of the August humidity.

Clean cottage at a quiet street with paranormal view of the salt marsh bay, right by the water and piers, great for fishing, boating and crabbing. Rooms are very basic, Would be nice to have coffee and creamers in the room (there is a coffee machine though). AC and fans are a bit noisy for light sleepers, other than that it's a very comfortable place to stay for a relaxing summer vacation

My husband and I had a fabulous time at Snug Harbor Cottages. The cottages are modest, but very clean and comfortable. Lovely view of the lighthouse. We took a boat tour with Captain John that was just great. We highly recommend staying here.

We travel a lot and Snug Harbor became our favourite place on East Coast. We try to come every fall to simply relax. When we are there we feel like nothing else exists... it is very peaceful and relaxing, away from the craziness of this world. It is one of the very few places where we can truly relax. We look forward to this visit every year and we got some of our close friends hooked on Snug Harbor too :) They ended up staying there even more often than we do :) Cottages are verycozy and clean, they have all we need including kitchens, the views are outstanding and the hosts are very friendly, helpful and they do a great job with running this mini resort. Kayaks, boats, SUPs are available to rent right on sight which is very convinient too. We just made our fall reservation and can't wait to come back!

Great customer service, lovely view, convenient, comfortable place with all the basic necessities that you need for a fun time. Good for families or a romantic getaway. I highly recommend!

Loved Snug Harbor Marina Resort. So peaceful and the views are awesome! The owners, John and Basia are so kind and caring and they make sure you have everything you need to make your stay complete. The cottages are adorable with everything you need for a comfortable stay. They are spotless and very roomy. There is so much to do right at the resort that we never made it over to the beach. The fishing and crabbing was great and we had so much fun making new friends while sitting at the tiki bar on the dock. The boat tours were fantastic and we got to see beautiful wildlife and views. Capt. John is very knowledgeable about the history of the island and makes the trip worth taking. You can enjoy kayak tours to see the wildlife and most of the time, you can get very close to the ponies. Everything at Snug Harbor is just awesome. We love it and will always make that our vacation spot every year. Thank you John and Basia for always making our stay worth the ride.

We loved our stay 3 1/2 day stay at Snug Harbor. We have three children 9, 7 and 3 years old. They had a great time fishing at the dock with daddy just steps away from our back door. Everything was clean and the view was breath taking. We found this town very friendly. We ride the Pony express, had a boat tour with captain John, enjoyed one day at the beach, play golf, ate the most delicious meals and deserts we ever had, visit the light house, had a horse trail ride and visited the Delmarva discovery center (the best for kids) just 20 min. away in Pocomoke City. Short stay but well enjoyed. Basia and John were there to answer any question we had. We even had the luck to enjoy one night with live music just a mile away from Snug Harbor. We will definitely be back. Basia and John, It would be nice if the cottages have at least one closet or dresser, We had to organize all our belongings on the floor on top of some blankets. Also it would be very helpful to have better WiFi access. We did no have any signal in our cottage and having to check on emails or search for local stores or restaurants was kind of challenging. Those are the only things we suggest too improve. Thank you for a great weekend!

Nice location, although a bit close to the road if you have kids or pets. Grounds and equipment are well taken care of. We were upgraded from a 1BR to a 2BR immediately, although this was in the middle of the week off season and the resort was pretty quiet. Still, it was a nice surprise. Staff is very friendly and helpful. While the cottages are very cute, clean, and comfortable keep in mind there are no closets, dressers, or storage to speak of, and little counter space. Kitchens had decent wares but need more utensils for larger groups. I imagine if you as the staff would provide it. Crabbing off of the dock was fun but no one we talked to caught fish. My husband rented a skiff to fish in the waters just off of the resort (as he was advised by them to do) and only caught 2 flounder - not keepers - for 6 hours of fishing. The flies at the resort weren't bad but If you plan to go anywhere near Assateague Beach be prepared for LOTS of biting flies. The restaurants in the area are all ok but we did not find anything exceptional, even at one of the best (and highest priced) restaurants in the area. Also, if you plan to rent a boat or do any fishing bring your own equipment and check rental rates before you arrive as the resort charges a pretty penny for these things, like $25 for a $9 minnow bucket. Their Eco tour was not worth $50 PP.

Our stay at Snug Harbor was amazing. The first night we stayed in a One Bedroom, and the second night our two kids joined us so we moved to a Two Bedroom. It was a very easy transition for the second night. The Cottages were both wonderful, spacious and very very clean. The view was incredible! Sitting on the dock at night was so peaceful and coffee outside in the morning was a great way to start the day. This is a little peace of heaven tucked away on the back of Chincoteague that I would highly recommend. Another highlight was the sunset boat tour. The pontoon was roomy and comfortable and the captain was full of great info about the islands. We even had a pod of dolphins start to swim and jump in the water next our boat at one point! WOW! My one and only suggestion is that if you are under 5'3 tall you bring a mirror along - the bathroom mirror was definitely hung by a much taller person. Thank you Basia and team for sharing your cottages and your island with us!

Our family traveled down to Chincoteague Island for a week of fun and relaxation. This was something we have been looking forward to doing for a long time. While the surroundings and Snug Harbor Marina met our expectations, we were not expecting to fall in love with the Chincoteague/Assateague area. It all began when we pulled up and entered this CLEAN, updated waterfront cottage. The owners were friendly and welcoming. Prior to our trip we had every indication that this would be a special place to rent because when my wife and I were growing up, our parents also took us on vacations to a waterfront community. This cottage is quaint, inviting and relaxing for a water side getaway. It has a nice size deck and excellent access to the dock for our boat (13ft) and wave-runner. Water pressure for the shower is excellent and furniture is comfortable. We saw horses, dolphins, sea turtles, eagles and osprey near the bay that runs directly behind the cottages. We enjoyed visiting Assateague Lighthouse, The National Wildlife Refuge, Beach, and town with many ice cream shops to choose from. If you are a pie lover, you have to visit “Church Street Produce” they make the best fruit pies. At night we grilled fresh seafood, steaks, burgers and corn all week long. There are plenty of places to eat out, but we chose to BBQ behind the cottage.. Our son actually stayed on the water all day exploring the bay. He had such a great time. Snug Harbor was one of our absolute favorite places. The nights were peaceful and the locals are friendly. We will definitely be back.

My mom and I took a weekend trip to Chincoteague to celebrate her birthday. We found this place and could tell it was going to be cute...but let me tell you, cute is an understatement! Snug Harbor is a marina with about a dozen cottages for rent. Ours was right on the sound with stunning views of Chincoteague National Park and the Assateague lighthouse. In fact, in the morning while we drank our coffee we could see ponies spending time on the shore. It was magical! I will definitely be back to Snug Harbor - I can't imagine a more relaxing, picturesque place to stay for a weekend!

We spent 2 weeks in the US and 4 of those nights were at Snug Harbor on Chincoteague Island. It was our favourite part of the whole vacation. After doing all driving from NYC to Washington DC and all the walking while sightseeing the big touristy cities we were ready to rest and realax and Snug Harbor was the perfect place to do so. It felt just right. Relaxing and at the same time plenty to do. Snug Harbor is all about a great location and the outdoors! One day we were kayaking to see the wild ponies, another day we spend all day at the beach, then we took a very nice sunset tour with Capt. John straight from Snug Harbor and the last day we decided to just do nothing which was great too. It was a perfect choice to end our US tour.

We had another great stay at Snug Harbor. It was our 3rd time! We always stay here because this place is so different than any other one, there is no other place like it on the island. It has a tropical feel with all the palm trees, white sand and tiki huts. Clean and fully equipped cottages, outstanding customer service and the view to die for. We just made our reservation for another stay this spring! Can't wait!

Here are some pros and cons about Snug Harbor. - Heat - At first the heat was awful! The first night we got there, the cabin was boiling hot. There's AC in the bedroom that we cranked up, but it took hours for it to cool the room and about 24 hours for it to start cooling the rest of the cabin (we had to keep the door to the bedroom open at all times). I had to sleep on the couch the first night because it was unbearable to sleep in single bed in the front room. - No internet - there is a router in the office but my phone couldn't find it. When my one friend's computer picked it up, it wouldn't connect. Then the bars were so low it didn't really matter. Unless you go to the office, you won't be getting internet. - Limited cleaning - We were there 5 nights and the cabin wasn't cleaned w/o our request. We had to ask for fresh towels, toilet paper and trash bags. - No microwave - there was a fridge and stove but no microwave. Unfortunately, we had bought a lot of microwaveable foods in anticipation of eating in a few nights we didn't get to use. - Bugs - Not the responsibility of Snug Harbor but worth mentioning. There are 3 kinds of pests on the island - black flies, horse flies and mosquitoes. The black flies are annoying but don't bite (we had a few of these in the cabin). The horse flies only seemed to be in the beach area and did bite. The mosquitoes are EVERYWHERE! We only had a couple in the cabin but they are rampant on the rest of the island, esp. near wooded/stagnant water areas. So be sure to pack lots of bug spray and long shirts/pants. - Staff was wonderful - They were very friendly and answered all our questions. - Kayaks/Boating on premises - They were readily available for rental. We took a guided kayak tour to see the wild ponies and got really close! The guide was knowledgeable and we had a great time! - Beautiful view! - We were right on the water and had a spectacular view of the ponies, the lighthouse, and the water. It wasn't noisy at all and the sound of the water was very relaxing. - Near all the sights - Getting to the beach, trails, and shops was very easy. They provide maps in the office and we were able to get from Snug Harbor to all the sights without trouble. - Pricing - The rates were affordable considering everything that's included. The four of us paid about $360 each for 5 nights. Considering we had the kitchen, beds for four people, and were overlooking the water, we thought it was very reasonably priced.

Snug Harbor was exactly what we needed. Peaceful, relaxing place right on the water with a great view. Our cottage was spotless and it had everything we needed and more. We went on eco kayak tour one morning and also on sumset nature cruise one of the evenings, both outstanding. They take off straight from Snug Harbor do you dont have to drive anywhere! Very convienient. We had great time and we would love to come back.

Captain John of Snug Harbor Marina, located in Chincoteaque, Virginia took us out on a tour on the waters. The views and the weather was just perfect. He explained the history of the horses and much more and it was very interesting to hear the stories. Captain John took us to the launching area of the Friday night launching of the rocket. We got to see it take off from the ground up. It was very exciting standing on the deck at Snug Harbor Marina having a perfect view of it taking off and going high into the sky. Snug Harbor is the most relaxing vacation place to take the family. They have so much to offer with rental of kayaks, boats, tours and much more. Fish and crab right from the docks. They have everything you need right there. Captain John and his wife Basha work hard to see that all their visitors are well taken care of. Don't cheat yourself out of a perfect place to relax. Call them to reserve your next vacation and see for yourself. You will love it. You won't want to go home. Chuck and I want to thank Basha and John at Snug Harbor Marina in Chincoteague, Va. For the most perfect vacation we have ever had. You guys are great the Marina is great. We had so much fun sitting around the Tiki bars making new friends and just hanging out crabbing and fishing. Oh, make sure you feed my ducks rice krispies and cheerios John!!! People go there. You will never want to leave and you will never want to go anywhere else. They have so much to offer you and the cottages are so sweet with everything you need. Walk out your door and you are at the water with boats, kayaks and much more waiting for you. Most relaxing place on the bay ever. You are only 5 minutes from the ocean. You are right across from the lighthouse and wild ponies. What more could you ask for? Make your reservations, you won't regret it at all.

So glad we found this place, from now on it will be our annual getaway spot :) We came to the island to get away from the city life for a few days. Snug Harbor was exactly what we needed, we ended up extending our stay. So very relaxing surroundings, comfy waterfront cottage, peace and quiet and friendly and helfpul owners. We are very happy that now we have a wonderful place to get away to. I wish I could go there today :)

Snug Harbor will definately stay in my memory forever. It was a very diffrent stay than most of our family vacations. That place was perfect not just for a nice, relaxing vacation and all the great outdoor activities they offer but also for a quality time spent with my family. Everything we needed was right there...waterfront cottage with full kitchen, beautiful view of Assateague Island and the lighthouse, wild ponies across the water, kayaks and boats for rent, tiki huts to hang out and have our daily cook outs, very friendly and helpful hosts, sun, sand and the nature at its best. This was one unforgettable vacation we would love to take again!
