My stay at El Sol was exceptional. The location and grounds were beautiful, my room was  impeccably clean and decorated in a lovely mix of yellows, oranges and reds. The breakfast and meals were so fresh and delicious. Infact, probably some of the best food I had in Costa Rica.  The owner Susannah was so incredibly kind and helpful as were all the staff I met. It truly was "where heaven touches earth".

That I couldn’t stay longer. Garden room was amazing, best sleep in years. Design, animals, and the energy surrounding El Sol we’re amazing. Views from pool and property were breathtaking. Breakfast…just WOW. Susanna and Negrita (cutest little pup) welcomed me and were gracious hosts. Thank you again:)

Amazing experience, staff was very accommodating. The property is gorgeous with tropic trees and birds all over. The infinity pool with the view is spectacular and the dinner they prepared for our was the best we had in town

Property was a little bit out of town, about 15min but that also made it more quite away from the noise of town

My family loved every minute of our stay at El Sol, a place exuding positive energy. The hostess is incredibly welcoming, with excellent communication. She introduced us to a private guide who took my family out on both a day and a night hike to see the magnificent cloud forest. The breakfast is phenomenal. Don’t forget to make time for hammock and relaxing pool time. We appreciated all of the details at each cabin, and the art brought so much joy. We can’t wait to go back.

Nothing really. the pool area is quiet small without beds although there is a hammock and mats provided. most people are out doing activities so it shouldn’t be a problem unless the property is expanded.

It’s a very beautiful area with wonderful gardens and views. Not in the center of Monteverde but close enough so it’s convenient.

I wish there were more stars I could give to rate this wonderful place.

it was amazing! we loved our fantastic villa with a beautiful interior, lots of space, en suite barhrooms and a wonderful patio. The pool was incredible with a spectacular view, we used the sauna and enjoyed the pool the whole afternoon. We have stayed in 6 different accomodations in Costa Rica and this was by far the best! we are travelling with children and it was very convenient that the food was served in our accomodation!

Loved the location and the view. The cabin was very private and quiet, and everything was provided. The owner and staff were very kind, we would definitely recommend this place, the view is just spectacular 👌

the bed had scope for improvement, not very comfortable. More choices for smaller meals, especially lunch, all meals outside of breakfast are $20 something smaller and cheaper would be better.

My children and I stayed at El Sol for 2 nights at the end of December. Our time in the Chalet in the Sun- waking up to a gorgeous mountain view, singing with the birds everyday, walking around in the grass in the early hours of the morning and dabbling in the pool- was nothing short of a magical experience. The wooden chalet itself is fully equipped and is decorated with such attention to detail and love. It feels so welcoming with its mix of warm colours and strong dark wood. It truly is a special place away from the hustle and bustle of the city but is also ideally located hardly 10mins drive away from town for all the activities. The lovely Susanne recommended great attractions and restaurants and arranged affordable drives to town and the airport. We had the pleasure to drive back to the airport on our last day with Alba who is a joy to be with, even if only for two hours. We've all three made unforgettable memories we will cherish forever at El Sol!

We didn't stay long enough

Gorgeous views!! Stunning!! Amazing!! Susanna was super friendly and patient. Had a fresh and delicious breakfast on our balcony each morning as we took in the beautiful mountains, listening to the birds sing and the elusive toucan make its hallmark frog sound. The room was spacious and appreciated having a fully stocked kitchenette. The staff kept everything clean and fresh. Really appreciated that they washed our dishes as well. Since the property is in the mountains be prepared with bug spray because many critters get into the room. El Sol is about 15 minute drive to the center of Monteverde. Susana helped arrange the taxi service for us but saw many people driving their own cars. Would definitely recommend this lodging to everyone

Due to the location of the property, we need to take a taxi everywhere so we weren't able to walk as much from the property to other destinations. There were a decent amount of bugs in the room, but that's to be expected since we were right on the mountain. These were very minor issues, as the room and stay was all around awesome. The views alone were worth it all

We stayed in the chalet in the sun at El Sol Monteverde and it had by far the most spectacular and breathtaking views. El Sol was unlike any place I’ve ever stayed, and in the best way possible. You literally feel like you’re on top of the world (considering you are actually looking at the tops of clouds from your balcony/bed). My girlfriend is a bit more on the squeamish side with bugs (and her naivety got the best of her considering the cabin was actually in the middle of a jungle). During rainy season, it is impossible to not see at least a few critters in some hiding spots, but Randall was more than accommodating and had housekeeping spray the room immediately after bringing it to his attention. After that, my girlfriend slept like an absolute baby the next 2 nights without a bug in sight. If you’re anything like us and leave everything until last minute, Randall is your man. He was able to talk to whoever needed to be spoken to to get us on the excursions we wanted to without booking in advance. Even our “fully booked” zip lining tour couldn’t withstand Randall’s suave. Aside from the charm of the cabin and the hospitable nature of our host, the pool made for the perfect end to our days. The clouds set in and absolutely surrounded us. All you can hear are the sounds of the jungle around you. Because this hotel is comprised of only a few spread out cabins, we had the entire pool to ourselves every evening. According to my girlfriend, the charm of it all managed to erase any argument she and I have ever had. There may not be a restaurant in the hotel, but per your time request, you will be hand delivered a beautiful and delicious Costa Rican spread to your cabin for only 10 dollars. We’ve stayed in other hotels in Monteverde but NOTHING compares to the experience you will have at your chalet in the sky. Our only regret is not staying longer! Safe to say we will be back.
