Calico Jack's Resort was a fantastic place to stay for our family of 2x adults, 2x kids (12 & 9). The 2 bedroom villa had separate bedrooms with 2x single beds for the kids and their own ensuite. The other bedroom had a kingsize bed with ensuite. Air conditioning in both bedrooms and the living room which worked well. A small fridge, kettle, microwave, coffee maker (with a little coffee provided), crockery & cutlery, 5 gallon jug of water (refilled free of charge if required), TV, free WiFi.
The resort offered a pool (with hummingbirds feeding), restaurant with great local food, and importantly onsite activities! Fabulous ziplines, rapelling (abseiling), jungle swing, jungle walks, option to head off site for cave tubing. Staff were all fabulous! Highly recommend for a family adventure stay near San Ignacio!
We did find a small scorpion under the bed. All added to the adventure, and we were told to be careful and keep doors shut. Do have a good look around your room, you are in the jungle! :-) Not in the control of the resort!
The pool might want some tiles replaced soon, but did not impact our use and enjoyment at all.

The location for adventures is perfect. We did zip lining right there at the resort. We did the ATM cave tour which only took 25 minutes to drive to. We did the 1000 foot Falls and Caracol and some Tod the pools- all close by. The drive in feels sketchy and the road is horrible with bumps and holes -it’s a dirt road so be prepared. And when u r about to turn around thinking this can’t be it- just keep going and the property is so beautiful and peaceful and the people are so genuine and kind
The dirt road is the only bad thing I can say.

Super cool little place with individual cabins. Staff picks you up in a pontoon boat since it’s not accessible by car. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Offered suggestions on food we could order and have delivered. If we stayed longer, they have fishing poles available and the sweetest dogs (I’m an animal person so a property open to animals has my support) Also it’s incredibly close to the airport for those needing a place to stay when arriving or the night before an early flight.
Nothing against the property, all in all it’s a cool place. Just have bug spray. I didn’t bring any and I got bit up like crazy. lol. That’s my fault though for not bringing any.
