The Carre Arms Hotel & Restaurant

Superb rooms. Newly refurbished. Comfortable and a great size. Thoughtful renovation, sympathetic to the building.

Probably should have refurbed the bar area at the same time. Having spoken to the manager I understand that this is a work in progress. So far so good, this does need progressing. The food offering was ok but not that great. Didn't feel homemade, it was just ok.

My hotel room was beautifully decorated. It is one of the best hotel rooms I’ve stayed in.

The Location was convenient with plenty of free parking spaces. Staff were friendly. Apart from that there was little to appreciate about the hotel or the experience.

The hotel might have been splendid in its day but it is well past its prime and desperately needs updating. The heating was turned off in the bedroom but came on quickly, the radiator in the bathroom came on 12 hours later. First time we used the sink tap there was a foul smell from the drain. I booked the extra large king size room and presumed the default reservation would be for 2 people but had to pay an additional £15 for my wife. The continental breakfast was basic at best. There are better places to stay.
