Lovely staff, good breakfast (we had one 'observation' that we shared about a small detail, but otherwise perfect), beautiful buildings, attractive interiors that, while not quite luxury, are really comfortable and pleasant all the same. We sometimes stay in super exclusive resort hotels, which can be a bit intense as a family, so this type of decor is pretty perfect for a family with teens that wants a nice place, but wants to relax. Enjoyed the bar and lounge in the evening and felt really well looked after by the staff. It's a bit remote from Bath (Booking.com gives the distance from the city limits, not the city centre I think) but as a result we got to discover nearby Corsham, which we otherwise wouldn't have and which was an absolute gem of a historic Georgian market town, so all good. There's no gym, but City Fitness is 3 minutes drive away and, if you are serious about working out, is a bit of a find (a body builder's gym, with two big rooms of extremely varied older equipment that let you target very specific muscle groups compared to more modern generic gyms that tend to have lots of repeated machines. Day passes are £7 in autumn 2026. Basically we had a very nice time and would go again.

We had the garden apartment, which has only one bathroom, reached through one of the bedrooms, which we coped with as a family but could be very awkward for sharers on a work trip. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work, so before booking the garden apartment, make sure they've fixed it! The other bedroom is huge and could easily accommodate an en-suite - hopefully they'll add that in time.

Great stay for one night- we enjoyed the outdoor pool for sure!!
