Grand Hotel Melbourne

Location handy to transport and places we needed to visit. Staff wonderfully friendly and helpful. Room was excellent for the price.

THERE WAS NOTHING WE DIDN'T LIKE; but because the hotel is very large, more/larger signs giving directions to things like pool/lobby etc would have been useful. Also, while the location was perfect for the purposes of our visit, it is on the edge of the CBD which might not suit people wanting to go easily to sites on the other side of CBD.

Front desk staff were really nice. Special mention to the GM Denis. Loved the welcome card and choccies in our room. Lovely welcoming touch. He always said hello every time we passed the front desk during our stay, and even when we passed him in the street outside too. Was even super nice when we called the front desk number at 7am on our checkout day so we could pay our mini-bar tab. The cafe recommendation and menu recommendation for the on-site Indian restaurant were spot on.

The first day that service was due for our room. Housekeeping turned up at 4pm asking if we would like our room serviced and we said yes. We were then told that we'd have to leave the room for 30 minutes in order for this to be done so we then just asked for a change of towels and bins to be emptied so we wouldn't have to leave the room as we were resting before heading out for the evening. I know the hotel was full as we stayed during the build up to Grand Final weekend so I'm guessing it was just delayed because of a big number of checkouts/check-ins due. Service was completed earlier on the other days it was due which was much appreciated.
