The Rutland Hotel

Stayed in the executive suite. HUGE bed which was perfect. Wardrobe with hairdryer, ironing board and iron.

En-suite bathroom door was frosted with gaps around the side, so privacy was an issue. We added breakfast onto our stay, at an additional cost of £13 each, it was very disappointing. Served weekdays 7am - 10am. We came down for breakfast at 9:30am. Continental was help yourself and cooked breakfast was made to order. Coffee machine options were black coffee or espresso. They “ran out” of pastries and mushrooms, the bacon was undercooked and eggs were over cooked. Also got a teaspoon of beans in a tiny pot. By time the cooked breakfast was brought to our table at 10:10am, the toast machine and juices had been taken away and continental area all cleaned away.

The rooms are all individual so vary in size. The bed was large and comfortable and the towels big and fluffy. The bathroom appeared modern and had good hot water. There was a kettle with tea, coffee and milk. In addition, an iron and ironing board. I didn't have breakfast at the hotel.

The hotel is arranged over many levels so there are numerous narrow staircases. It's the only hotel I have been to that has opaque film on the lower part of the windows! The result is a dark room and no view.

They charged £10 to park in car park, but only told me that after I had been there a while. The room was very tired - threadbare carpet and shredded curtains. Very overpriced.
