Istanbul Golden City Hotel

This hotel is excellent. Its rooms are very clean, spacious, and well furnished. The free wi fi works very well. The breakfast was huge, with a wide choice of food, and very tasty. The staff is very kind and nice. I arrived in the early morning, and Mr. Ali, the receptionist (who is a great guy), offered me early check-in and an upgraded room for no additional costs. Moreover, the location is excellent, very close to public transport and easy to reach from the old city and from Taksim and Galata. There is plenty of space to park for free there, and I have also seen several private parking spaces.

Amazing view from the 9th floor corner room. Mesmerizing view of water, boats bridges and mosques that were all abazed at night. Just stunning.

The elevators were a bit small but the closeness was very romantic.

We paid a little extra for a Panoramic View and it did not disappoint. It was great at night to open all the curtains and just watch the whole of Istanbul go by, absolutely stunning. The room was spacious, very clean and our room was cleaned and serviced efficiently every day. Staff were all super friendly. The breakfast on the top floor every morning was great with a huge range, lots of staff working and very attentive.

On arrival the area doesn't look the best, but it is perfectly positioned for walking and for accessing the metro. You can pretty much walk everywhere, which given the traffic is a great thing. The location right next to the river means there is great access to some lovely restaurants, some cheap and cheerful, some more expensive.
