Check-in was fairly quick.
Staff seemed great - friendly and attentive, but didn't crowd. The staff I met are a credit to the place: A+!
Room and bed were very comfortable.
Room had a kettle, and a selection of teabags & coffee.
It's an old, atmospheric property with character and charm.
Ideally located for exploring many of York city centre's attractions.
The secret garden can get busy but it's a lovely space.
Noise from the street / outside was very loud first thing in a morning. I was already awake, and was due to check out soon so it didn't overly bother me, but I can imagine some guests may struggle with this noise.

Great location right at Bootham Bar city gate, and some of York’s rebound attractions.
Location, quirky style, food and staff were very accommodating.

What a great place to stay. Smack in the middle of York and right next to the York minster. The staff are lovely. The place is very clean and tidy
It’s a little dark BUT I suspect that’s more to do with the decor, so not really a criticism of sort.

Very good.
Our bedroom was a bit small and window was damaged and difficult to close because of decaying frame.
