2 Friends Beach Hotel

Well set out, friendly staff, comfortable rooms

The airport pick-up was included in our room, which was great. We opted for the cheaper room, for us, or was absolutely fine. It was large, and the bathroom was huge. It had all the facilities described and was comfortable and clean. The pool is tiny but lovely, and all you need to cool down.. There are sufficient sun beds and chairs for guests. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was good too with eggs on order. There was water, tea, and coffee available all day, too. The location is really good, just across the road is Lake Victoria, and 10 minutes walk up the road is the Mall for the ATM and SiM shop. We also walked to the Botanical Gardens, which are another 5 minutes past the Mall. We ate really good food at the affiliated restaurant in the lakeside each night. We felt very safe in this district. We would definitely return to this hotel when in Entebbe.

Nothing to dislike

A one night stay ahead of a gorilla safari. The hotel staff met us at the airport as arranged. For our purpose the hotel did a good enough job.

It was relatively basic, no air con but fans provided that were quite loud.

The hotel has a lovely location directly by the lake. We really enjoyed the food at the hotel restaurant, especially as you can sit right by the water. The small pool area is also very nice for relaxing and cooling down, although the pool itself is too small for proper swimming. The included transfer was easy and well organised. Wi-Fi was excellent throughout our stay, and the shower had great water pressure with plenty of hot water. Our Pool View Room also had a nice balcony overlooking the pool area and even offered a partial side view of the lake.

Unfortunately, the check-in experience was not very welcoming or friendly. We also noticed quite a few dirty areas around the hotel, and some of the renovation work looked rather careless – for example, there was paint left on the balcony floor from painting the railings. The towels had some light yellow stains and did not feel completely clean. The room itself felt a little plain and not particularly cosy, and the bathroom is starting to show its age. Breakfast was okay, but nothing special. Overall, we felt that the price was too high for the standard and experience offered. There are definitely some nice aspects to 2 Friends, especially the location, restaurant and lakefront setting, but considering the overall value for money, we would choose a different accommodation in Entebbe next time.
