The Half Moon Inn

The food was very good. The place was popular and dinner places were fully booked on the Sunday as a live band was playing. Staff were great. Good hot breakfast freshly prepared.

The accommodation was badly in need of an update. I wouldn’t have wanted to pay any more for it then we did. Just a lick of paint and matching beds,carpet. There was a boiler in the room where you slept but fortunately they had a carbon monoxide monitor in there otherwise i would have been worried. The shower cubicle was tiny and not good if you are on the plump side which was odd because there was plenty of room for a decent sized shower tray. It needed a light by the mirror as the light was in the centre of the room so you could not see clearly to put make up on. The entrance door was ill fitting so it would be very draughty in the winter. The first day we arrived the bin was still full even though they said it was ready and there were quite a few spiders and cobwebs. We mentioned it to staff and they quickly rectified it.

Very good value for money. Staff amazing. Great place to stay on the way further north.

The room was warm and comfortable but the washing facilities could improve. There were no hooks for towels or clothes. No handle on outside of bathroom door. Plug was unchained so got stuck in hole when used, my husband repaired this as it was a pain...door wedged on floor half open. The toilet seat was loose and no toilet roll holder. Just a little more attention to maintenance required we thought
