Olive Green Hotel

Convenient central location near everything (restaurants, shops, main tourist sites, ports) but located on a quiet street. Comfortable and spacious rooms. Air conditioning was useful for the summer heat.

The staff were very welcoming from the beginning. We really liked our room, it was very clean and really comfortable, with the nice look to the little park in front of the hotel. The buffet breakfast was also really nice.

Overall everything was good. The only thing is that the property itself doesn’t have parking, so if travelling with the car can be tricky, but they have a good deal with a parking lot nearby, which was really helpful.

Das Personal an der Rezeption ist wunderbar freundlich und professionell. Die Zimmer sind geräumig und ruhig, und das Bett ist sehr bequem. Die Dusche ist sehr sauber und der Wasserdruck hervorragend. Das Frühstück ist ausgezeichnet – sehr vielfältig und alles ist frisch. Das Hotel liegt direkt in der Altstadt, umgeben von zahlreichen Restaurants und Cafés. Zudem sind alle Sehenswürdigkeiten gut zu Fuß erreichbar. Das kostenlose WLAN ist schnell und funktioniert einwandfrei.

Es gibt nichts, was mir nicht gefällt.

Olive Green Hotel seems to have found the most amazing staff, they were all absolutely delightful, very capable, so welcoming, and very helpful, and super sweet to my little dog. The hotel is in a great location, with an easy walk everywhere, and a short walk from the bus station for anyone who is using that to get around. The room was very clean and comfortable, the internet speed was good, Air Conditioning was all you need to escape the heat, and the shower 'room' in my room was spacious. I had an early departure to catch a ferry, and they booked a really great driver for me, and organised a breakfast box that was waiting for me in the morning that was so generous I gave half of it to my driver because I couldn't carry everything (I was travelling with a dog and luggage + ferry 😉!). I ate the rest on the ferry and it was delicious. The staff at this hotel really are such an asset to the business, and I was blown away by how lovely they all were.

Unfortunately I didn't sleep well here, there was a lot of street noise that woke me up multiple times, including a car alarm that went off several times so I was exhausted in the morning. Also there was a bright light that randomly came on in the middle of the night from under/behind the bed that also startled me awake. I really wanted to stay here again on my return to Heraklion, and I would consider it again, but I recommend ear plugs (which is a problem if you need to hear your alarm for an early departure) and a sleeping mask. The shower didn't drain well, but I suspect much of Heraklion struggles with plumbing issues and there may not be much the hotel can do about it.
