I absolutely loved this place. I just needed somewhere close to Hangzhou railway station that was cheap and cheerful but this was much better than that. The apartment is compact but has everything necessary for a comfortable stay. There was even ground coffee and a cafetiere, which is a rare thing indeed in China. The bonus is the extensive library, mostly in Chinese but with many English & German books too. For me this provided a real insight to the life of an outward-looking educated local and an experience that one couldn't get from a hotel. I met the owner, Yan, very briefly and she was lovely, very welcoming.

The apartment itself is clean and secure. Just accept that the apartment block is a bit grubby. Some instruction on what to do in the event of a fire or other emergency would improve the sense of safety and security.
