Good range of breakfast options. Nice being able to eat breakfast on the terrace with great views. Fantastic view of the castle from our balcony. Extremely helpful staff - we were given an upgrade on arrival. Excellent location for accessing Carcassonne.

The view

This is no better than a motorway hotel - it’s layout, colour scheme and lack of amenities put it in the same category. For example, no flannels, no bath robes, no slippers. All-in-one body wash from a squeezy bottle - no hair conditioner. Tiny towels. No kettle in the room. Service at the restaurant was dire - we were eventually seated at a dirty table and had to chase the waiters to be served. When our meal finally arrived it was missing half the components and no bread. We asked for bread, and ten minutes later we asked again. As there were no serviettes, we ended up tearing in half the one at the bottom of the bread basket and sharing it between us. We asked for a bottle of wine - any decent establishment would open the bottle and let us taste it first, but not here. The wine was already decanted into one of their own bottles and it was plonked onto the table. How this place received four stars is beyond us. We work within the tourism industry ourselves and stay in four and five star hotels regularly. This was not four star, by any stretch of the imagination.
