Extremely noisy / poor sound insulation. Woken up every morning by breakfast buffet noises and moving chairs

The Grand Hotel Ortigia lived up to its name. The staff was friendly and helpful. The common areas were very attractive. The terrace restaurant had good food and commanding views of the harbor. The room was well appointed. The only drawback was the small shower located too close to the bidet.

Charming historic hotel in a perfect location. Right on the waterfront. Walkable to everything in Ortigia. The staff was delightful, our room was very generous and the hotel rooftop restaurant (also the breakfast room) had an amazing deck and views.
Arriving by car was easy (just over the bridge from Siracusa) in a tow that’s otherwise challenging to navigate by car. Convenient parking across the street.
This is an older property - so outlets in the rooms are limited.

Great location.
Old school charm? I found it kitsch and interesting; arguably it looks a little outdated.
Private parking opposite the hotel is helpful given the nature of the town.
The staff aren’t that friendly. Front desk is professional but a little cold; at least one of the guys running the dining room was consistently grumpy.
The breakfast feels very store bought. Maybe we had been spoiled by a few smaller boutique hotels where the breakfasts were mostly home-cooked.
Generally had a vibe of a hotel that will always be full based simply on its location, and so the motivation to provide excellent service isn’t really there.
