Hotel Gambetta

Great location. Room at the end of a small corridor was quiet. Enjoyed the small scale of the place.

It was fairly hot during our stay, 32 degrees top during the day, and there was no air A/C in the room. There was an 'air cooler' which is a floor mounted fan unit with a ' frozen chill block' in the bottom ie the same thing you would put in a cool box for a picnic. The reception staff showed us how to use it, and let us know we could ask for a new frozen block that evening. We did this as the block only has a mild effect, & just for a couple of hours, so the room was still hot, and unfortunately the mosquitos outside prevented us from opening the windows, until morning. The front entrance security is lax. Be aware that the lift only travels 1.5 flights of stairs, to a small air conditioned lounge, so you will need to walk up stairs the rest of the way. This was OK for us, but wont suit everyone.

The staff were polite and very helpful. Hotel was in easy reach of restaurants and close to the tramway

The breakfast was fairly limited. The steep stairs would be a problem for elderly or handicapped persons as the lift operates from the first floor.

Location and staff

Could be noisier outside in the weekends

Location

Too cramped
