We will return to Hotel Riviera del Sol next time we visit Playa del Carmen. Location is superb, close to 5 ave but not too close so we could not hear the music, and two blocks from the beach. Breakfast was normal continental (fruit, bread, coffee, yogurt and juice) but proteins were available at low cost (5US). The room had a microwave, sink and refrigerator. Front desk staff was helpful with information on places to go around.
Lightning in the bathroom could be better.

The room was spacious, clean, and great value for money. The hotel is close to plenty of restaurants and shops, and the grounds are very green and lovely.
We found the breakfast a bit expensive.

Very close to the beach and shops. I loved the jungle type garden and friendliness of the staff. Nice fresh fruits at breakfast. Room cleaning every day.
Extremely loud, those noise sensitive shouldn’t stay here. I asked for a quiet room, got a upper floor bit still impossible to sleep due to loud music outside.
Very poor paid breakfast, any extra must be purchased.
Small pool, more a large jacuzzi. No elevator.
Rooms are small, we didn’t have soap or floor mat in the mattress the first days.
