Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou

Fabulous hotel in an excellent location. The views from the room and restaurants were outstanding! The staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here.

At checkout, after 6 nights with 3 guests, every breakfast had been charged at around 270–280 CNY per person. When I raised it, they mentioned a "promotion" I was never told about. Even the check-in staff member confirmed she had quoted me 200 CNY. They eventually "adjusted" it to 230 CNY, still not what we agreed. I had a flight to catch and no time to argue. I've attached photos of the final invoice and the signed receipt with my handwritten note, so anyone can see what was agreed. I'd expect this from a cheap hotel counting on rushed guests at checkout, not from the Four Seasons. A smaller issue: the in-house barber only does Chinese styles and doesn't trim beards. For an international hotel, that was surprising. The rest of the stay was excellent, which makes this even more frustrating. The last impression is what stays with you.

The room was very well appointed and the bathroom was particularly sophisticated in its design. The view of the river was stunning.

The sound insulation between rooms is the worst of any hotel we have stayed in. It is obviously a consistent issue for guests because, when we complained, the staff show no surprise and immediately offer you ear plugs. Totally unacceptable for this hotel brand and the room rate.
