Philoxenia

Staying at Philoxenia felt like arriving at an old, familiar home. The true meaning of the word Philoxenia — the hospitality traditionally offered to the gods — is not merely a concept here; it is a reality. It felt as though we had arrived to stay with a dear, long-lost relative, where there is always some of Grandma’s homemade cake to enjoy, and where happy (and always hungry ♥️☺️) cats are resting in the sunshine. The peaceful valley of Ermones, where the plants seem to breathe in the salty essence of the sea, captivated us from the very first moment. Although it was our first time in Greece, the endless kindness and genuine warmth of the staff meant that we never felt like strangers, not even for a moment. Settling in was not stressful at all — it happened completely naturally. The nearby taverna and little beach were always a wonderful choice whenever we didn’t feel like going far, and simply wanted to slow down and take in everything this beautiful island has to offer: the endless horizon of the sea and the evergreen cliffs that we could admire from the terrace. Keinerlei Beanstandung

Pros: * Good location: The hotel is well positioned for exploring Corfu. By car, you can reach most parts of the island within approximately 30–45 minutes, which makes it a convenient base for sightseeing. * Friendly staff: The staff were kind, polite and helpful throughout our stay.

Cons: * Towels are changed only three times a week: This was one of the biggest disappointments for us. We chose a hotel partly because we expected to have the option of using clean towels regularly. Guests should be allowed to decide when they want their towels changed, rather than having a fixed schedule of only three changes per week. * Mosquito problem: There were quite a lot of mosquitoes around and inside the room, which was unpleasant. * Room 222: There were visible blood stains on the walls, apparently from crushed mosquitoes. This definitely gives the room an unclean and poorly maintained appearance and should be addressed. * Breakfast: The breakfast is basically the same every day. It is acceptable and sufficient, but quite basic, so there is nothing particularly special or “wow” about it. In our opinion, it is not worth the €10 per person. It is sufficient if you simply want something to eat in the morning, but it does not offer enough variety or quality to justify the price.

Eigentlich nur, dass es keinen Touristenrummel gab und man relativ schnell mit dem Auto zu schönen Punkten fahren konnte.

Das es eine Bettenburg ist ( was definitiv nicht aus der Beschreibung hervorgeht) das dunkle, muffige Zimmer , das absolut nicht zum Verweilen eingeladen hat, das lieblose Frühstück, das man sich mit einem Tablett wie bei McDonalds holen und danach auch wieder abräumen musste ( die Tische wurden dann auch nicht mal mit einem nassen Lappen abgewischt), der angeblich so freundliche Besitzer, der uns schon beim 1. Frühstück mit seinen angebotenen Bootstouren nervte und nachdem wir kein Interesse zeigten, er auch keines mehr an uns hatte. Fazit: Ich kann die durchweg positiven Rezensionen nicht verstehen, wir fanden es gruselig und waren froh, dass wir nur 5 Nächte dort verbracht haben.
