It had only been open for 2 weeks so everything was brand new. The staff were keen to please and were very helpful.

Nothing to dislike

Beautifully renovated hotel in a nice setting. You get the 'wow' factor when you walk into the reception. Very warm welcome at check-in. Bedroom was gorgeous – furnished in a sumptuous Cotswold style. Very good quality food at the restaurant, and the upgrade from the prosecco to the crémant was a very nice gesture. Ryan at the restaurant also kindly gave us a little tour of the hotel after our meal – lovely to see the pride he took in the hotel and in his role.

A bit tricky for us to find off the motorway but this was probably because we arrived tired in the dark after a long day. While we had a very warm welcome at check-in, the receptionist at checkout, a different person, seemed less friendly.

When we arrived we were surprised to learn that we were fist of under 30 guests as the hotel had only opened 2 weeks earlier

We booked this hotel especially because it had a wellbeing spa where we hoped to relax before a long journey home . On arrival the external building looked a little like a community centre. Unfortunately we were later told the spa was not ready for guests yet . This was very disappointing. Bar food was good but very expensive. The restaurant menu was also extremely expensive with steak priced at £35 for rump. They did however cater for vegan preferences and the breakfast included was pleasant. Coffee machine in room was a nice touch but the fresh orange at breakfast had a synthetic taste so definitely was not freshly squeezed. I would have expected this to be this given the standard of the menu. Overall these issues maybe teething problems but I think this hotel will eventually be a hit with golfers which is what the hotel is marketed towards.
