Exceptionally furnished cottage in the grounds of a manor house. I suspect the furniture and fittings are all in keeping with the manor house itself. The hosts allowed us free access to their garden - a combination of formal gardens and forest with sculptures. We came for local walking, and made the route up Ingleborough direct from our cottage. Austwick is a sweet village - we happened to be there for their May Fair.

This is the most beautiful house we have ever lived in and we were sorry to leave after only 3 days. Being the former stable and garage of the Austwich Hall some hundred years ago, it had everything we could have hoped for: ancient stone walls and floors, spacious kitchen with modern equipment and a large dining table, sitting room/library with a functional fireplace, sofas and a wall of interesting books (we would have liked an extra week simply for reading the most interesting), 2 spacious bedrooms each with grand toilet/bathing facilities. We were invited to explore the amazing old garden and the park/sculpture wood. It was thrilling. Being gardeners ourselves, we must say that the garden will need some care and attention soon.

Excellent location, quiet and private in the lovely village of Austwick. The village had well stocked shop for food supplies etc and the food in the local pub was excellent and within easy walking distance. The Coach House was very well appointed with a very good kitchen and two bedrooms, both ensuite, very important when holidaying with friends. Plenty of parking on site for two or more cars.

The stairs to the first floor bedrooms were quite steep and would benefit from a handrail for safety reasons. One of the bedrooms had a further flight of stairs to the bathroom which also needs a handrail. The light switch to this bathroom is at the top of the second flight of stairs so at night you either had to find your way to and up the stairs in the dark or wake your partner by turning on the bedroom light. A dustpan and brush would be a useful addition to the cupboard under the stairs for cleaning up any mishaps.

Very comfortable accommodation in beautiful countryside. Warm and cosy with excellent facilities. Perfect place for two couples staying together as each bedroom has its own en suite bathroom. Highly recommend it.

These were minor issues but some members of our group found the pillows rather hard. One of the en suite bathrooms doesn’t have a door and the addition of one would give a bit more privacy.
