La Gourmandine

Lovely house interestingly decorated and a very comfortable room. Slightly odd but efficient bathroom arrangement. Very handy for the town and a good restaurant nearby

No lift, not essential for us but there were a lot of stairs

We have been here before - it is a lovely place, a perfect location as a stop off on our journey. Previously we have felt it has been perfect - previously a lovely room etc.

Despite booking three and a half months in advance on arrival we were told there was no room in the main house and we were shown to an annex via a wood decking path in poor repair that could be a trip hazard. We accessed our floor via an exterior metal spiral staircase, rather like a fire escape. The room was much smaller than our previous room in the main house, although modern and clean. The internal walls were paper thin - we could hear the person in the next room coming and going and using the facilities etc. We were unable to access WiFi in our room despite following the written instructions. We could not make the TV work. Fortunately none of these things mattered too much as it was a stop off on our journey, however we were disappointed not to have the same level of comfort and convenience as our previous stay.

Good city centre location

One of those hotels from another age. We were hoping for something a bit more up to date.

The location and the building

No lift to the top floor, the basic bathroom and toilet.
