Hotel el Fuerte

It’s a beautiful old colonial style hotel. We lived there art, pottery etc. Wonderful staff.

The aircon made a lot of noise and only cooled the room a little.

Lage und Ambiente

Das Hotel ist sehr schön, wie in einem Museum. Das Zimmer war gut und das Bett bequem und sehr groß! Es liegt direkt an der Innenstadt und am Fluss.

Leider hatte unser Zimmer kein Fenster und deshalb nur künstliches Licht

While there was no restaurant service or even coffee available in the hotel on days one and two, several groups arrived in the afternoon of our second day and as a result we had breakfast the day of check out. Staff at breakfast were very nice. The lobby and public areas are picturesque and charming but there is no sense of welcoming hospitality. Location was excellent.

The hotel reception was not welcoming at all. The woman didn’t even get up from the desk, just had a clueless young girl check us in and show us to our room. No explanation on anything, no help struggling up the stairs with our heavy bags, no lesson on the tv which never worked. Internet was spotty, slow and sometimes not functioning. The room was okay but in need of tlc: broken floor tiles, hole in the ceiling with wires exposed, broken toilet roll holder, bizarre light fixtures that made no sense. The fact that the restaurant and bar are closed if there are no in-house groups could be a problem for some. This was not explained until we asked where we could get breakfast the next day. And even then, it was off handed. The second night there was a group of young men playing loud music and yelling at the pool from 11 pm until probably 2 am. Looked like a sports team: no chaperone or hotel employee stepped in so we had to in order to sleep. No phones in the room to call the front desk and if there were, no one manning the desk.
