Great location and venue. Very well maintained classic New England inn. Staff were very friendly, inn was very clean.

Bed was somewhat uncomfortable and then heat came on in middle of night and had to open window. Shower could use hotter water. Kiddos to staff for opening bar on demand.

Family stay to visit the ice castle. Hotel stay is 20 minutes from ice castle. Very nice hotel with old charm.

Lovely inn with a great view of the mountains. We were in the master suite and it was amazing, especially if you're a fan of taking long baths. :) The staff was really wonderful; they might have been a little understaffed at our weekend dinner there, our area of 3 groups of people waited quite a long time without seeing anyone.
Overall a really lovely stay and would love to stay there again when we're in the area!

Small town friendliness and a quaint, beautiful Inn. We will be back.

The décor doesn't match the character of the building. Property appears a bit rundown, and neglected. I believe it says there is breakfast available. Danish and coffee was what was available.
Bathroom in my room was very small.

We arrived at our Inn looking forward to enjoying the restaurant and bar and not having to leave on a rainy night. Unfortunately both the bar and restaurant were not open and our “upgrade” to compensate for the closure meant we got to carry our luggage up another flight of stairs to the top floor!
The room and the Inn were very nice and clean, however, if there are no amenities such as a bar or restaurant, it is not conveniently located for other options.

Very friendly front desk. Property is clean and has a charm to it. Good views all around

Upon arrival, no one was available to check us in, so the bartender actually found the key and let us in. Then we went to dinner and the waitress informed us she could not serve us because she was anticipating that she would have too many tables due to later reservations. So we ordered take out and ate it at one of the tables. While we had our dinner, there were only two other tables with customers. Then we went back to our room and the tv didn’t work. Not a good experience but the room we had was very large and comfortable.

Views in mid-October are amazing! This is a very traditional inn so if you are expecting an ice machine or fridge in your room you should look elsewhere.Staff was very friendly and the spaces clean, but the beds/pillows were not comfortable....at all.

This property is more of a bed and pastry (staff makes homemade to offer with the coffee) rather than a hotel. Very unique and charming. Room was spacious and kept the character of its history. The bed was firm - we were worried it would be uncomfortable - but two nights proved no problem and we slept very well. The room had an air conditioner/dehumidifier that switched on routinely and was quite loud (although we got used to it). Staff was great and gave a history of the building and area. Multiple dining areas but limited times where food is offered. No fridge, microwave, or ice machine in rooms but one available in common area and buckets of ice available on request.

This property was magical in the fall. An old but clean inn on the most peaceful lot with a beautiful view of the mountains. I felt very safe here. The staff was friendly as well. I wish we could’ve stayed a couple more nights.

Gorgeous property and beautiful views. Loved our room- it was a big suite and perfect for a family of four.

Lovely two night stay at this historical property. Comfy bed, great water pressure, morning views of the mountains out the window. Would stay again.

We enjoyed our stay - nice room at the rear of the property with stunning views of Cannon Mountain and beyond. Staff very helpful and attentive. Property is a charming old historic building which is well maintained. Great dinner and bar area with good selection of food and beer - restaurant is not open every day but there are ample eateries in Sugar Hill and Littleton. Complimentary coffee and tea is available all day as are small bakery bites at breakfast.
This is a great location for exploring the White Mountains.

Property has two buildings, we were put in an older annex called Hill House. Exterior, especially entry way, needs cleaning up and painting. Dining room experience was not good. Made reservations for 6:00 PM, appettizers arrived but very subpar & had to send back, and we were not served meal by 7:30 PM so we left. Hostess was apologetic and professional, but appears to be due to lack of staffing. Hostess sent over a to-go meal to our room later so we at least had something to eat.

We arrived late, so it’s hard to review, however the area is stunningly beautiful and this old building is quite charming! Comfortable room, lovely area to relax in for a quick breakfast.

When I set out to visit Sunset Hill House, I didn’t expect the experience I had. From reading previous reviews and the property’s answer to those reviews, I know that this will only serve as that - a review - and that no action will be taken towards making up for a bad experience, except a few paragraphs will probably be written in response in order to justify their take on things. To save you some time and effort: Yes, the view is beautiful. And yes, the mountains are breathtaking. Yes, the Inn looks wonderful on the outside. But how long will you be able to hide behind that? You are a business, and you are charging people quite a bit for the view they can get just from walking outside. I dare say the rustic, old-school experience of being handed an actual key as opposed to a keycard gives you a very welcoming, warm feeling when you arrive. But after going up two sets of stairs that are stained and dirty and look like they haven’t been cleaned in years doesn’t feel very welcoming. The room was clean! And that’s the least a great hotel should offer. But this is NOT a great hotel. I thought it was, but it is not. I had no hot water in my room. The bathroom was small, and that’s okay, but the shower was weak and again, did not get hot (not even warm until 10 minutes later). I understand you are a historic site, but there are steps you can take to bring your hotel up to par that won’t mess with the integrity of the building.

Room was very nice. I was provided with a $20 voucher which I could not use because the dining room was unavailable due to a special event. Since the location of the inn was remote, I would have appreciated a note from the inn to let me know so that I could have stopped along the way to eat. Check-in was difficult as the staff was preparing for the special event.

Had third floor room. No elevator to get heavy piece of luggage to and from our room. Room was nice but for me, being 6'5" tall, the area for the commode was too small. As it was in small place next to a jacuzzi we didn't use. Few dead flies in bathroom each day especially in the jacuzzi near the window (an easy fix). These things a minor compared to the beautiful setting and the lodge itself. Pleasant staff and beautiful dining facilities. Yes, I would go back.

VERY old house (was placed in Hill House, next to main house), paint job desperately needed. All doors had problems. Room itself had old mattress. Clean room though, no issues there. Can’t complain about the locale or scenery, beautiful area. This particular house just needs work.

After traveling all day we truly enjoyed a glass of wine and a nice dinner without leaving the property. The room was nice and fit out needs. Just remember this is an old inn and there are no elevators.

What is nice about this property is that it is a quaint and beautiful view hotel.
Unfortunately, the occupants in our building upstairs, You could hear everything and smell are Marijuana smoking. We were there for 3 days, and they only came in the room to tidy up 1 day..

We were on the little house near the main building. It need a lot of renovations. If you want to go there, ask to be in the main building. Also, pool is not very an option as it is not really maintained or heated.

Beautiful area.
Place itself is a bit dated.
Bathroom in room so small that it was difficult to move or brush your teeth without bumping the walls

We were working on our property until late. Needed to eat. Got back and dinner was from 5pm-8pm. We did get back at 7:45 however they closed the kitchen. It wouldn’t have been an issue but on a Sunday everything is closed up in town. Nothing was available anywhere.

Beautiful location up in the mountains. Very charming hotel and rooms. It wasn't in the season yet to use the pool though.

This place has stunning views of the mountains. It is an old building but has been lovingly updated. Everyone was super friendly. Dinner was tasty if not a bit expensive for the cut of steak I got. Everything very clean and the bed was comfortable. Would stay again!

Amazing, cozy and personal experience! Cant wait to take my family there again. The manager Judy was phenomenal, attentive and spot on! My daughter absolutely loved her. We stayed during one of the only snow falls of 2023. We were prepared to be snowed in, but the games they had in the day room downstairs made for lots of fun. We absolutely loved our experience and wish we got to stay longer! We didnt get to try the restaurant but we will be back in the future to do so!

The property is an amazing historic inn. The views of the white mountains are breathtaking. Staff was friendly and the inn and rooms clean.
Be prepared ….. this is a historic property. Central heat made our room excessively warm (80’s in February). The bed was old and my wife and I kept rolling into the trough in the middle.
The bathroom is small with no area for toiletries, no hairdryer.
The above issues should be preparation and not discouragement from booking. This is a beautiful eclectic property and a good experience overall.

The room was huge and very clean. Bed was cozy and the place had a lot of charm. View behind the house was amazing.

As soon as we got there Chrissy made us feel like we were friends coming for a visit!! Beautiful quaint old house with lots of charm and a view of the mountain range from our room!! The supper at their restaurant was also outstanding! We will be back. Loved the area.
