The hotel was in a good location for us. It was quiet and we felt safe. Its in the French quarter so its a very old building and has the quirks of an old building, which we actually like. It had an elevator, which was convenient and we had a small fridge in our room , which was a plus. It was clean and the mattress was VERY comfortable (also a pleasant surprise!) The negatives: the toilet was horrible. It took multiple flushes just to get toilet paper down. It would also spit water up. Gross! The toilet paper was the thinnest, worst paper I've ever seen. The tub enamel was chipping off so it didn't look clean even though we think it was. Our room was a "budget" room, so i get it, no real frills, but just one cheap piece of art on the wall would have brightened it up a bit. Overall, we would definitely stay again. Lov ed the quiet and the comfortable bed, and lets face it, you don't go to New Orleans to stay in the room!

Even though our trip was cut short due to a family emergency, the facility and staff was amazing and accommodating. They even gave us a refund for one of the nights. I will always stay here when i visit NOLA.

Building is in need of repair. Bathroom and tub clean but worn out. Building Needs repainting , new carpet on stairs . Location is good , near French Quarter. Limited parking in small garage 10 minutes away . It was historic . Mattress needs replacing . Bathroom sink drain needed plunging . People at front desk were helpful and attentive . Internet was out over 6 hrs because of rain .

The daytime staff were very nice the nighttime staff or just the opposite. I accidentally left my key in my room I had to knock on the window to get the nighttime front desk person to open the door. After about a minute of tapping on the window he finally acknowledged me and made it seem like it was such a huge Task to get up and come open the door. I’ll never stay there again.

It’s the perfect location for the French Market and Bourbon St. Friendly staff, accommodating, AND it’s the House of the Rising Sun. What could be more NOLA than that!

The stay at this hotel was actually very good. At first I didn’t have high hopes but when we arrived I was blown away by the vintage vibes it was giving. I love places with history to them and this one did not disappoint. It was clean and tidy and over all very comfortable and safe for me and my friends on our girls trip and it was in walking distance to everyone we wanted to do in the French Quarter.

The staff was amazing. It was close to everything. The air didn't work good in our room we had to use a fan the entire time. It gives you a bed in breakfast vibe. House keeping comes daily and are the sweetest.

This best part of this hotel is the location. That is really what you’re paying $200/night for. At first glance it’s got that New Orleans charm, but the place was run down, quite dirty and needs a face lift. Darren at the desk is a lovely person, gave us great suggestions. Considering all we did was sleep there, it was fine, but overpriced in our opinion. No breakfast, just coffee, ice, vending machines.

This is my 3rd trip to NOLA and this hotel is by far my favorite one we have stayed in. The location can't be beat, right in the heart of things but not noisy. The rooms are clean and comfortable, while still maintaining originality. Every member of staff we met were super friendly and helpful. Lastly and possibly my favorite thing about this hotel is that they do a room service every day without having to ask. I know this would seem like something standard in a hotel stay but I can assure you as someone who travels for business and pleasure that it is no longer standard, even in a 5 star hotel. Well done Hotel Villa, I will make you my go to hotel next time I visit.

We did a quick 3-day couple’s trip to NOLA. Located on a quiet street in the French Quarter, the Hotel Villa Convento is a unique experience. The hotel is near Bourbon Street and a short walk to Frenchman Street. Everything is in walking distance. Comfortable room. The room itself was very clean. The bathroom is clean and simple, and they give you a good number of towels that they refresh every day. The main level patio is great!

absolutely loved the staff at the counter - they were very helpful and kind. A great place to stay in new orleans! It was super close to the bars and the garage parking was sooo nice and safe. It was also super cute!

We had a wonderful stay. The hotel and room was a bit outdated, but for the price and proximity to all the attractions, it was well worth it. We were able to get a spot in the parking garage on day 2, which was really nice. The staff was incredibly accommodating, and always available to answer any questions. We will definitely book with you all again during our next stay.

This is a great place to stay. It’s old, but everything works. Parking is limited..I think they have 10 spots and it’s 5 blocks away from the hotel, but you can unload your stuff before you park. All the places we wanted to see were within walking distance. We would a stay at here again!

Our stay was wonderful. The location of the hotel is right in the French Quarter so you can just walk to Bourbon St and a bunch of restaurants, bars, and stores for shopping. I ended up booking a room with a balcony which was perfect for preparing a coffee downstairs in the front lobby and sitting on the balcony and enjoying the beautiful weather. The staff was wonderful as well.

Liked'- near French quarter. Disliked - noisy air conditioner/heater, took a long time for water to heat in shower and no daily room cleaning and clean towels.

Courtyard nicer than expected - loved sitting there if others were not smoking.

Great location and so was Darren at the front desk. The room was very small but I can live with that, what was upsetting is the rooms condition. It didn't look like it had been painted since the 1800's. The dirt and scuff marks on the walls made the whole room feel filthy even though the room was actually pretty clean. At almost $200 per night you'd think the owners of this property would spend $30 on some paint for this tiny room. My brother came to visit me in the Quarter for Christmas but i refused to meet him at the hotel because he would want to see my balcony room which i was too embarrased to show him. For less than the cost of my 2 night stay they could fix the tile in the shower, either hang up the hairdryer or remove the empty holder on the wall, fix the pulls on every drawer, fix the a/c leak on the balcony that kept spraying me with water and replace the stained bedspread. The hotel itself is cute but all of it needs some freshening up. I visit the Quarter frequently and have stayed in every hotel, luxury and boutique, this place wasn't worth anywhere near what I paid. Its more like a hostel. Small changes would make a huge difference and justify the price. Its insulting that the owners are too cheap to use even a tiny bit of there profits to take care of this historical property that has lots of potential. I won't give this place a second chance unless they offer me a free night in an updated room.

I loved the Villa Convento. The historic building has been kept in amazing condition. It was beautiful. Dewayne at the front desk was so friendly and very helpful. He made us feel very welcome and went above and beyond.

Wonderful gem in the French Quarter!! This is not "luxury" per se, just a comfortable, safe, affordable place to enjoy in New Orleans. The location could not be better--- just 3-5 minutes away from dozens of enjoyable bars and restaurants on Bourbon and Royal streets. Far away enough from the center of action so you don't have to hear everything in your room all night. I stayed in Room 205 and had absolutely no problems with water pressure, temperature, nor wifi, they were all perfect. The fridge/ freezer were wonderful assets and kept my goodies well chilled. Sadly, unlike other reviewers, I had no apparitions. Oh well.
I would recommend bringing ear plugs if you're there for a festival or special occasion. It's an older building, and noise carries. It wasn't a problem this week, but could imagine how drunk people laughing and fighting could be annoying if it was a busy weekend.
Extra credit and acknowledgement must be given where it is due -- the staff is exceptional. They are friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, kind. Dewayne especially is a WEALTH of information and can tell you almost anything about anything in New Orleans (and probably nearly any other subject if you ask).
[Pro Tip: The breakfast cafe right across the street -- Croissant D'Or is amazing!]
I would stay here again. As a matter of fact, I've already made my reservation for next year. I rarely ever do that, but don't want to lose out once everyone figures out how great this place is.

My husband and I spent a lovely weekend at the Villa. The staff are exceptional and the location couldn't have been better. The only downside was the old bed that creaked every time we got on it.

I love unique hotels and inns that are a little quirky and have personality. However, the lack of cleanliness and upkeep here really made it difficult to truly relax and enjoy the space. The balcony table and chairs were filthy, the shower curtain was covered with mildew, the tub drain was horrible (we had to plunge it several times), the TP was transparent. We never could figure out how to operate the TV. The parking was indeed a hassle and the front desk was not very helpful in brainstorming options. I would not stay here again nor would I recommend it to friends or family.

The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Villa Convento gives the authentic vibe you might be looking for right in the French Quarter. Walked everywhere! Bathroom was dated and shower was marginal, but the bed was wonderful and we spent very little time at the hotel anyway. Would stay there again.

I’m the heart of the French Quarter & spooky yet cozy hotel. Warren was working the front desk & what a huge help he was ! I can’t wait to go back !
