It was a great space with modern bathrooms and kitchen - the log fire was great but I would have liked to have known we needed to buy wood for our stay as the main heaters were not on( it looks like this lodge used to be part of the main reception bar area) so there are electric heaters that do the job but it wasn’t enough our first night. You need to buy the logs from the local shop and it’s not open Sundays. We arrived a Sunday, it set us back £30 for 1 bag of logs and 1 bag of kindling. We still had a lovely stay regardless, I just wanted to give some honest feedback as I couldn’t find any of this information online before arrival - ps there is a dishwasher! It’s not listed on the facilities. Hot tube was clean but wasn’t hot enough our first night - did message the owners For advice but no response. I’m assuming it hadn’t been turned on until that day and takes a long time to heat up so it was uncomfortable the first night. We purchased the luxury robes and early check in late check out - I recommend these. A net for the hot tub to remove debris would have been great too! I brought some cosy blankets and lighting to really set the vibe for our autumn stay.

The furnishings etc were all bit mis matched. The lodge needs a good lick of paint, not just patchwork. Not that that effects our stay - I am quite fussy so make of that what you will. It was generally clean but the soft furnishings, curtains sofas etc need a deep clean. Some curtains were handing off the hooks. The staff seemed to work hard to maintain but I think there may only be a few staff. The whole place seems to have been downsized and shut down a bit, So not what it once was. The restaurant is permanently closed and is used as storage., you could see this on your arrival - just seemed a bit run down. This isn’t clear online. Although it’s still well functioning. The grand suite door is right next to reception so people heading there can see you in your hotub. Also attaches to other lodges, so we were able to hear other guests quite a lot.

The suite in all is amazing. comfy beds and couches. Hot tub ready on arrival. Log fire and well equipped kitchen. Loaded with books and games too. I will most likely be back.

Not much privacy in the hot tub area (although quiet enough). We brought a pop up gazebo as the Mrs seen in previous pics privacy could.be an issue. (No way she would have used it otherwise being anxious).

I liked the location and for a bigger party the lodge would have been better but i booked for the facilities i.e air hockey table and private hot tub.

How cold the lodge was the heating was terrible and only little electric heaters for warmth that when switched off the coldness returned. The hot tub is not private it overlooks the car park and is next to the cleaners cupboard and restuarant, although the restaurant was closed it didnt seem like we had much privacy. The reason for booking the bigger lodge was if the weather got too bad we at least would be able to use the private hot tub and the air hockey table. Hot tub not private and the air hockey table conveniently OOO a few days before we arrived and no one informed us. Lots of banging doors during the day whether it be the cleaners coming out of their cupboard or banging the other lodge doors next to us. There is no mention that the restaurant was closed. I had messaged the lodge before travelling regarding the roads in bad weather and no one bothered to reply to me. Happy to take my money and appear at my door demanding more money even though their services were not as described.
