Axel Beach Maspalomas - Adults Only

Great location, close to Jumbo centre, huge pool with lots of sun beds, not too crowded. Gym, and loved the balcony overlooking the pool, perfect for morning coffee or breakfast.Staff was friendly and helpful, especially Aythemi, always smiling. Will be back.

Can’t fault anything.

- The hotel is conveniently located near the Yumbo Centre were the main gay bars are. - The hotel in itself is nice, and the rooms are cleaned daily (including towel replacements). - The bar has a good selection of food and drinks. The food tastes good and can be delivered directly to your sunbed. - One free bottle of water and two glasses of sparkling wine are provided free of charge upon arrival (the sparkling wine must be redeemed at the bar after 4PM!) - The gym has more equipments than a standard hotel’s gym. - There are some funny events with DJ Lucky taking place near the end of the week (Bingo and barbecue). These are a lot of fun and allow you to socialise with other guests. - Sauna, hot tub and steam room are included with your stay. - The room includes a cooking station, microwave, coffee machine (but you have to pay for the pods!), fridge (mostly occupied by pay-per-use products), a decent hairdryer and a safe (also pay-per-use). - The bed is comfortable. - Rooms have a good isolation from noise hence you don’t have to worry about noisy neighbours. - The balcony is quite good and has a table and a drying rack so you can have your breakfast and dry your clothes. - There’s an automatic laundry on the ground floor which is also convenient if you need to wash/dry your clothes (it only takes cash though). - The pool area has few toilets and showers available. - They allow you to leave your luggage and remain at the pool if your flight is in the afternoon/evening. You can also use the shower and toilets near the pool.

- Rooms are quite dark, even with all the lights on and curtains open. The wallpaper and facilities inside the room appear quite outdated. - Almost everything inside the room has an extra charge, including washing up liquid, safe, robe, and even coffee pods so be careful not to touch anything. - My booking included a safe but when we asked how to access this, we were told we had to pay extra for it. Eventually, they allowed us to use it for free after I started complaining. - The fridge can be barely used due to being saturated with pay-per-use products. - The wellness area needs a massive renovation. The sauna has some gaps from where the heat escapes. The steam room has mould on the ceiling making it unsafe to stay there (you can clearly smell it!). The water in the hot tub is cold and it’s unpleasant to stay in there. - The pool is nice but is not heated so it can be cold. - There have been times when non-guests were permitted to access the hotel and use the facilities for rehearsing wedding dances, etc. This happened twice during the week and made many guests feel disturbed and unable to use the facilities. If you’re looking for a relaxing place, look somewhere else. - Nudity is not permitted for men but it’s allowed for women to be topless, hence be prepared to wear wet swimming suits all day long. - The gym has only one set of plates and some of the pins were missing which affects its usability. - The hotel has some parking spaces in the front, but you need to pay 15 euros per day to use them. - Sun beds are limited and too close to each other. It’s difficult to get in/out of your sunbed, and you are often too close to other guests. - Premium sun beds are available for a charge. - You only get one token for one pool towel per day. You need to give the token to the bar to pick-up your towel, then give the towel back and collect your token for the next day.

It's a great hotel, next to Yumbo and close to everything in Maspalomas. The clientele was fun and the staff were excellent. Kevin the manager was a delight and check-in with Alvaro was a dream. Thoroughly enjoy our time there.

The food at the Pool Side restaurant/bar is a bit primitive although the service is charming.

Staff were great - hats off to them! Pool area was pretty decent too.

Bedroom was very tired. Absolutely need a refurb. The noise insulation was poor. I could hear people talking and then snoring in the next room.
