A lovely, quaint cottage in a convenient central location. We were able to secure a same-day reservation, which was much appreciated. Our king-size room had an enormous bed that was incredibly comfortable. On-street parking made things easy and, best of all, free. Breakfast at the nearby Duff Green Mansion was lovely. We didn’t interact with staff in person, but they were responsive online, and the lockbox system made accessing both the main house and bedroom straightforward.
Very minor, however the front shutters could use a little TLC, and we a curtain on the bathroom window preferred for a bit more privacy.

Staying at Steel Cottage was as much an experience as accomodation. The host is very helpful and looks after you like family.

The cottage has a lot of charm and character, and we really appreciated the historic atmosphere. The location was also convenient for exploring Vicksburg.
Unfortunately, there were several issues during our stay. The bathroom for one of the rooms was private but located across the hallway, which was not clearly stated in the reservation and was different from what we expected. The shower was also difficult to operate, and when I first touched it, a piece came off. We needed assistance from the staff to understand how it worked. In addition, there was no drinking water available in the cottage, so we had to go out and buy some ourselves. Overall, these issues made the stay less comfortable than expected.
