Melbourne Guest House

close to shops and bars and lake

bed to small towels to small shower not power enough small tea cups for breakfast

The breakfast was excellent, the owner was flexible. 10/10 We found the room size to be a little small but adaquate bearing in mind these are old cottages. We specified a premium room. The room and bathroom were nice and clean. Bed very comfortable. The shower was in a cubicle and was hot. I think the boating pier is a little closer than the 1.3m that a saw somewhere, which is good, very walkable, but uphill on the way back. Good bus services. The owner made a parking space available to us about 60yds from the property, but much appreciated. A small wardrobe was available, with hangers. Tea bags and milks were topped up daily. A bottle of water was provided.

Not much to dislike. A small fidge that was working would have been good for bottled water and milk. The tv could have had more channels, I was unable to get GB News and other available channels.

Beautiful traditional property , very clean and well equipped with everything we needed

Right at the top of Bowness, literally 5mins from everything the town has to offer so very convenient. Breakfast is a good value (though you're expected to pay cash on the day if you add-on). Bed was comfortable enough and WiFi was good enough to stream TV. Free parking spaces if you're lucky enough to catch a vacant one, and bus stops to Windermere and all other major towns just outside. Overall a decent enough place to crash after a day out on the lakes.

Room wasn't quite big enough to fit the bed in, and obstructed all the doors which getting round the room was a bit of a hassle. We had a broken extractor fan in the small ensuite (which would definitely not suite "larger" guests), and window had safety locks on them preventing them from being opened fully - so a couple of showers and the whole room turned into a bog. Parking is incredibly limited - Their guest house has up to 8 rooms but only 3 private parking spaces and the sidestreet it's on is rammed. so invariably be prepared to pay for the Bowness pay & display (another c.£10 a day)
