Stayed here a few times as a cheap option close to Liverpool. Feel like it’s improved from the last time we were there. Used to be quite loud and run down but no such issues this time. Would stay again based on this visit

Nice basic hotel
1.0
The hotel is very dated with everything covered in woodchip and magnolia. My room carpet was stained and it was obvious that it was a pet friendly hotel and I had to be moved to another room.
The full English breakfast was awful and inedible. Despite my complaint about the food, I was not offered any refund or discount.
Overall, the staff were friendly but didn't go out of their way to improve customer interaction.
One positive - convenient for Runcorn station.

It’s quite a difficult task to rate the Campanile as it’s a budget property. All I’ll say is don’t expect too much, but for the price it’s ok.

The campanile has always been a reliable clean and cheap hotel with friendly staff. Used them a lot in Europe. This hotel could do with the surrounding fences fixing and a bit of decoration. Staff are friendly and apart from being run down its cheap warm and with food available. Its OK.

Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was very good and the cooked food very hot. A very convenient location for the railway station.
I have no complaints.

Property is within easy walking distance to Runcorn rail station and close to bus stops. Staff were very friendly and courteous. The room was very well presented.

We got room 5 at the front of the accommodation block facing the carpark. The general look of it was awful - grim black paintwork and concrete.
The room smelled foul and there were deeply embedded dog hairs around both beds. We refused the room, and were moved to ground floor room 14 at the rear of the block. There were empty beer cans lined up on the doorstep of neighbouring rooms and the whole presentation of the building looked depressing, unkempt and shabby.
Room 14 was cleaner and did not smell so bad, so we accepted it. On closer inspection there were holes in the bathroom wall, a missing lightbulb, marked bath tub, holes in the curtains, and a huge spider living behind the hair dryer holder.
The key good points - The younger staff member when we arrived was very apologetic and tried her best to help. The meals at supper - pie and chips, was good portion size and cooked to order and we were able to take back to our room to eat.
Breakfast was freshly cooked, with a good choice of items.
Key bad points
Appalling state, and lack of cleanliness of the first room that we turned down.
The grim, dark, old, and depressing building that looks like a rundown motel from the worst of the 70s.
Holes in walls and a general feel of 'is it safe to stay here'.
Our apologies to the staff who are trying hard to do their jobs in a building that is not worthy of their efforts, but we will not be staying here again. The head office needs to do a FULL refurbishment and support their staff.

It was a complete dump. Not been updated for 40 years. Awful.
Felt unsafe. Looks like a place to buy drugs or meet a sex worker !

This was by far one of my most comfortable and best stays at a hotel. The staff went above and beyond beyond. Cannot recommend this place more. Morgan, Claire, Johnathon, and Becky were absolutely fantastic.

Its time this place was demolished. Grim, it didn't feel clean, frightened to walk on the stained carpet.

Hi There , Since I Have Stayed in Campanile hotels in Wakefield and Bradford I Thought I Would Give The Runcorn Campanile a Try and Wish I Had Went Somewhere else . Its Not Because The Rooms Were Grubby Smelly The Tv Was Not Working Properly The Bed Was So So Uncomfortable and The Noise Outside My Room Was Terrible People Standing outside My Room Windows Drinking Smoking and Shouting To Other People on The Other Level That was a Nightmare As Were The Stair Wells Being Dark Dinghy and Smelly. My Massive Issue Was Housekeeping at The Campanile Hotels There is Daily Housekeeping and Are Very Good But Runcorn Is a Complete Joke a Few Days Of Me Putting out My Card on The Door Handle Saying ( Please Refresh My Room ) I Returned Back From Work in The Evening To See The Card Stuck on The Middle of My Room Door Turned around Saying ( Do Not Disturb) So I Went To Reception To Ask Why My Room Was Not Getting Cleaned or Fresh Towls Etc after all I Would Be Staying 5 Nights I Was Told I Had To Book Housekeeping At Reception The Next Morning Before 9am I leave For Work at 630am Before Reception is Open . So I Cleaned My Own Room Bought My Own Milk and Teabags and Used My own Towel . I Wont Ever Return To The Campanile Runcorn and I Would Definitely Not Recommend This Place To Anyone ! Unless Yous Are ( 5 ) Men Wanting To Stay in (1 Twin Room Wich I Can't Understand But Seen

Noisy hotel people partying/ shouting Well into the early hours of the morning with staff obviously doing do thing about it. Would avoid if a good nights sleep is wanted.

Very good, but I didn’t like the quality of the toilet paper and carpet looks really old and crying for modernisation. I would love 2 separate beds rather one double bed

The tiles above the bath wasn’t clean there was no USB points in the room & @ 6:30 am fire alarm goes off, nobody came round to check if I had left the room, when I went in for breakfast was told somebody had decided to smoke in another room.
I didn’t get an apology,
I will not stay there again

Booked fairly late and have used this chain before with no issue, but this hotel was a shambles and in a destitute state.
It was clear that it was invested in for some years and was nowhere near the standard I have experienced in other hotels in the chain.
Everything was from the 1970’s and shower wasn’t working properly.
Checked out after one night and booked into another local hotel.
I won’t be staying here again and would recommend that no one else does.
If this was trip advisor, I could only give it zero stars!

It's okay - it's Runcorn and it's a cheap room. It reminds me of a motel you'd find people on the run put themselves up in on the TV.
There was quite a lot of noise made by workers who were staying there as they left about 6.30am.
To be fair, the shower was good and powerful and it's in a good spot if you're going to the Brindley, just don't expect too much.

The place is great, cosy rooms and right next the runcorn station. Is not the most prestigious place, but worth what you're paying for.

Up in Liverpool for weekend and this was a good price & handy to train into

Campanile is never the Ritz. Its most obvious competition is Runcorn's Premier Inn which typically has roughly the same rates.
In favour of the Campanile is its location - convenient for the station, much better placed for walking into town, etc.
In favour of the Premier Inn would be the far more comfortable beds and the generally better state of upkeep.
On this occasion, Campanile was about £30/night cheaper than Premier Inn. For the bed alone we'd probably have chosen the Premier Inn with hindsight. (Maybe we were just unlucky with our mattress.)
It's a shame as the Campanile is far better located and with a better mattress we could overlook the other things. But when it comes to a decent night's sleep Premier Inn has probably set the bar too high at this price point for this Campanile to get our business again.

Would never stay again! When paid £114 for 2 nights, I expected much more. The pics in here are nothing like the actual conditions. First opening the door, was welcomed with overwhelming smell of mold/dust. The lighting was so poor and the one in bathroom was flickering! Mirrors were moldy and unclean. Plug point didnt work. Tv didnt work. Carpet and whole interior was from decades ago. The only good thing was free parking. My husband and I felt like we stayed in some middle of highway motel and not a £57/night hotel!. Could hear people talking from other rooms and walking outside. Never ever would stay there again!

Great location, handy for the town and 2 min walk from the train station.
Quiet location, ideal.
