The Major Hotel

The room was spacious and stylish, with a very comfortable large bed. Shower, aircon etc all perfect. Breakfasts on the roof terrace with great coffee and pretty views, were a highlight. The staff - especially those serving breakfast - were always warm and friendly, checked in with us that things were OK and were quick to sort out any issues with the room. The location is in a lively area with most major sites within walking distance, but without feeling too crowded or 'touristy'. Wi-Fi was good and free. A complimentary bottle of water was put in our room every day.

The room faced onto a busy road so there was a lot of street noise. Closing the shutters, windows and heavy curtains helped dampen the noise, but stopped us from enjoying the city view! There were a couple of minor issues - e.g. toiletries had not been replenished after previous guests; returning from breakfast to find the cleaner in the room (and that she had also left the room door wide open so anyone could have walked in). While we had a lovely stay in this hotel, we did feel that it was expensive for what it is.

lift was very slow so spiral staircase was the quickest way up and down
