Leura House

It is a beautiful old building with a rich history in a good location within a 5 minute walk to Leura Mall. It has a beautiful quiet and restful garden and a large lounge area with a communal kitchenette. Coffee, tea, milk and a jug are provided in the room and there is also a small microwave, cutlery and share fridge in the kitchen.

Although I expected the room to be olde world, I did expect it to be cleaner. The bed was comfortable and the bedside lamps were great. Tap on/off and very bright. Heating and an electric blanket were available if I needed. The walls need to be cleaned though and the tiles around the bath need to be steam cleaned. The cold water tap in the sink didn't work and there was no plug (that I could see) but the shower was great and the hot water was fine. As this is a heritage listed building, certain things may be difficult to fix or update. Taking everything into account, I would still stay here again if only to relax in the garden. Some rooms overlook it. Staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

A lovely historic house, spacious room, and a great location for visiting Leura and the Blue Mountains area around it. Great value for money as well. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

The bathroom that we had (in one of the queen rooms) was a bit tired - cracked sink, shower screen that didn't close properly. We know from previous stays there that the whole place is not particularly soundproof. In this visit, towards the end of school holidays, we had lots of noise from children playing in the house - no problem really, and it was quiet when they went to bed. Most of the night we heard noise of running water (like a toilet cistern filling up) at regular intervals. But we did know the chracteristics of this splendid old house and we chose to stay there despite that!

I liked the house - period, historical, had character. Liked the garden and trees surrounding the house, especially around the upper floor veranda, our room was upstairs looking onto the trees. Liked the introduction by the staff member on the history of the house and the historical photos of the area and the house. Liked the spacious common lounge area. Liked that it was close to Leura. Reasonably priced.

Décor could be updated and more comfortable, in the common lounge area.

Close to town. Common area. Use of kitchen. Large bedrooms.

Not so clean. Musty smell. Rats in wall.
