Perfect location in a quiet and safe neighborhood. Hout Bay has everything; nice shops, supermarkets, coffee bars, restaurant and a nice beach. The house is spacious and comfortable. Private garden with swimming pool is perfect. Kitchen has everything you need. And very convenient to have a washing machine. In short: we had a wonderful 2 weeks with our family (2 adults, child of 5 years old).

The curtains in the bedrooms are not very dark; so you will notice when the sun is up. Across the street is a primary school; you hear the children start their day at the playground between 07.30u - 08.30u. We also had some nights with heavy winds; that makes a lot of sound. The bedrooms have no airconditioning; so when it is a sunny day the rooms are heating up quickly (despite closing the curtains) and the warmth is not easily gone before you go to bed (despite the availability of a fan in every bedroom).

We really liked the spacious layout of La Hacienda and found the utility room super useful during our stay. Although we had mixed views on the kitchen design, it was well-equipped with everything we needed. The host was very responsive, and the dedicated WhatsApp chat was a great touch — any small issues were sorted quickly and efficiently.

The acoustics in the house are quite poor, so noise travels easily between rooms — something to keep in mind if several families are staying together. While the swimming pool is listed as open year-round, it isn’t heated, which limits its use in cooler months. A few personal touches would go a long way, such as local information flyers, some board games, or a chess set for relaxed evenings. We also struggled to find firewood for the fireplace; even a small starter bundle and guidance on where to buy more would have been appreciated. Due to the house’s design, it may not be ideal for very young children, and the lack of a WC on the ground floor is a bit inconvenient.

Pas de wc en bas Bruyant. Une école est juste à côté, réveil a7h30 tous les jours. Mauvaises qualités d’isolation sonore des vitres de l’étage en tout cas ( pour l’école et le vent)
